Mudpuppy 09-20-2004, 11:04 PM Attached is the info. If you are in the Detroit area and could attend it would be great. This is a friend of mine who was struck by a van that ran a red light and was near fatally injured. He remains, today, a vegetable and they are unsure of if he will ever recover. The flyer has the rest of the info. PM me, post here, email me - double@wideopensportbikes.com, call Gary on the flyer or whatever you choose for my info. I implore you to consider this worthy cause for one of our fallen brothers.
ShanMan14 09-21-2004, 07:50 AM I wish I could attend, you're a great friend to organize something like this.
Gas Man 09-21-2004, 04:23 PM O, yeah WOS is going to try to make a good attandance. :dthumb:
Need4Speed 09-21-2004, 05:12 PM are they accepting donations in his behalf at all, for those of us that cant attend ?
Mudpuppy 09-21-2004, 11:05 PM I am sure they would. That would be awesome. By the way I didn't organize it, I just am trying to help those that did. If you would like to make a donation from out of state or you can't attend please email me at: double@wideopensportbikes.com and I can get you the info.
Mudpuppy 09-22-2004, 09:39 AM Anyone that cannot make the ride and wishes to donate can send their donations to:
Shannon Beauchamp
2284 Gratiot
Marysville, MI 48040
I spoke to the ride organizer this morning and he informed me of the following:
1. He wants to try and get riding as early as possible to get to the park to eat at noon
2. They are going to have a videographer for when all the bikes leave the starting point, to tape at the scene of the accident on Northwestern Highway, to tape riding past the hospital where Roger is now and tape bikes arriving at the park.
twisty 09-22-2004, 09:54 AM Ill be there.
Need4Speed 09-22-2004, 10:06 AM Sounds like it should be well-worthy cause!! hope it does well for you all!
ShanMan14 09-22-2004, 10:18 AM I added this to the calendar...

I know I will be mailing mine out tomorrow. Be sure to let us know how the event turned out. Good luck with everything. Wish I was able to be there as well.

Mudpuppy 09-25-2004, 11:43 AM Ok today I am heading East so I will not have access to a computer. I have to fix a shifting problem on the R6 and then I am off. So if anyone has any questions my number is posted on the www.wideopensportbikes.com forum. Feel free to call me. Otherwise I will see everyone out there tomorrow at 9am. Peace.
Need4Speed 09-26-2004, 09:11 PM how was the ride/event guys?
Gas Man 09-26-2004, 09:16 PM WOS represented like crazy! The ride numbers themselves was horrible. WOS was the largest number of folks there. We took the event from like 5 bikes to 15 or so. Desent for us. I felt a little bad that there wasn't as many riders there that the event deserved.
I guess HD had a ride going and that stole alot of the riders from Roger's event. It was a good cause and I think we really scored some good points in the eyes of the HD riders. They were really impressed with us and our showing. I think that is a good step for the sportbike vs HD worlds.
The guy that was kinda of running the event was very gratefull for all of our support. Especially sense MP was the only one of us that knew Roger.
For those of you that made it, I would like to say thank you. It really goes to show the support that we give all riders. It's a brothern or frat/sorority. Us riders really have to stick together and it's nice to see that without all the Jap vs HD non-sense.
Mudpuppy 09-26-2004, 10:25 PM Amen to that Gasman. The support from WOS was truly amazing. This is why I am a member of this club. I have nothing but respect for each and every member and even the people who are not members for whatever reason but still choose to be affilated with the club. Each time something like this happens I say there is no way the club can top this and they always do. A member goes down in the twisties - the club is right there to help with anything that needs to be done - from calling 911, to getting the bike back, to helping fix the bike - whatever - even if it is a non-member like Simon as of late. Yeah I felt bad when we rolled in 10 deep and there was almost no one there but also I felt really good that we could literally save the day and make the ride worthwhile - especially when the rider that had fallen is an HD rider and we didn't care about that - he is a rider, period and we were there strong to support him and our sport. Truly today was a proud day for WOS and their fitting tribute to the sportbike community. Today speaks volumes about our club and how we are dead serious about our commitment to riding, to those who ride and to helping out those in need. It was truly awesome! It left me speechless and that is saying alot :dthumb:
To those who sent in donations or that are going to, your support is also greatly appreciated - every little bit counts. To those that couldn't ride or couldn't send in a donation your thoughts and prayers for Roger and his family are appreciated just as much.
The ride organizer, Gary, made a profound and fitting statement today - next year he is confident that Roger will be riding with us. I second him on that statement. With all the thoughts, prayers and positive karma swirling around as well as Roger being a fighter I am confident that will happen as well. I will keep everyone posted on his progress.
I cannot say thank you enough.
Mudpuppy 09-26-2004, 10:29 PM Oh I almost forgot - here is one pic from the ride - more to come as I get them - I didn't bring my camera as I left it across town so I will get pics from those who did bring them. I will post them as soon as I get them.
Need4Speed 09-26-2004, 10:42 PM times like this, even when your mind/heart is with your downed comrad on 2 wheels..it really makes you proud to be a motorcyclist.
The press needs to get wind of this kinda stuff, and let the public know that we all arent about being squidly and stupid on the roads, but that there are a ton of us committed to safety, public awareness and helping out a fellow rider, manufacturer be damned, whenever we can.
Im sure as Roger is recovering, he'll appreciate all your support!! Let him know TWF is keeping him in mind as well!
Gas Man 09-26-2004, 11:56 PM Rite on MP! Hey I know when the right thing is the right thing. That pic was one of a few that I took. I would have took more but got caught up in hanging out with some fellow riders. Through out all the posts, the ribbing, and just plain ole BS that comes along with having all of us morons talking to each other day in and day out. You have days like today (well technically yesterday) that make it all worth it. MP had it right, it's days like today that make you proud to be a member of WOS and a rider in general. WOS has always strived to be better than what everybody thought we ever would be. And time and time again, we step up to the plate and hit a grand slam. Even Twisty and his g/f made it to the event with alot of other things that they had to do. He wasn't able to stay for the entire ride but came out, donated his money and the spirit that we all thrive in. Today was a good day to a rider and a member of WOS!
Beyond that, I can't wait for Roger to be able to see the video that they were filming of us rolling out this morning and going by the hospital. We may have only been 15 or 16 bikes but we sure did crank up the music with our own MC version of pipes.
ROCK ON!!!
Mudpuppy 09-27-2004, 12:31 PM Pics compliments of Mr. Gasman.
Mudpuppy 09-27-2004, 12:33 PM Couple more of Gasman's pics..
Need4Speed 09-27-2004, 12:39 PM great pics guys, !! , looks like it was great weather for the event too!!
Hey chris, is that you kawa, in this pic?
ShanMan14 09-27-2004, 12:44 PM We need to get y'all a TWF banner for your events.

Gas Man 09-27-2004, 02:52 PM Forethought just wasn't there...O well!
GSXR1000DJ 09-27-2004, 03:21 PM Sweet pics Gas Man.
Gas Man 09-27-2004, 04:10 PM Don't flatter me. Those aren't sweet pics...this is though! The one in front of a black fence, we were meeting to go to a bikini bike wash. Another from Belle Isle across the river from D-town. And another from a w/e in the twisties...
Mudpuppy 09-27-2004, 04:18 PM We need to get y'all a TWF banner for your events.
Although that is a great thought and if you put me in charge I would make damn sure the TWF banner got hung at the events I am afraid that the whole banner thing and WOS is a very sore subject - first we couldn't get Rec Leisure to hang our banner, then we did and now we have another banner that we paid for that sits in Twisty's garage. Not sure why but we can't even get our own gd banner flying out there. So if you want to supply us with a TWF banner and you want a guarantee of it flying at events then please send it to me - I will be like Joe Namath and guarantee victory - otherwise be prepared for a major fiasco.
The last post Chris did with the three pics - the second pic on Belle Isle with the Renecisance (sp.) in the background the blue R6 with the skull and crossbones (the very first bike) on it is mine. That was before I wrecked it - of course the only difference now is a few scrapes and a missing mirror.

Need4Speed 09-27-2004, 04:40 PM sweet ride double!! those pics make great wallpaper too..put those up in the gallery so we have them for quick reference.
Mudpuppy 09-27-2004, 10:28 PM Thanks bro. Hopefully it will be faster and badder next year. I was thinking last year to go with the copper color like Gasman's ride but I think I am going to go with the Liquid Silver. Maybe a new pipe. Some other mods. Haven't decided yet. Regardless I am going to strip all the stickers - I did like them but they annoy me now. The only one that will be left is the WOS.
Gas Man 09-27-2004, 11:18 PM Thanks for the compliment guys on the pics. Yeah, that's how WOS usually rolls. Somewhere between 10-18 usually.
Thanks MP for the compliment on the thought of going with the 9R color.
ShanMan14 09-28-2004, 07:43 AM THOSE are some cool pics. You were able to take the pics in Detroit on a sunny day? You'd better buy a Lotto ticket NOW! :D

Yeah Gas that copper color is bad ass. I still wouldn't mind it but I am kind of stuck on the liquid silver. If I don't track bike it I am going liquid silver and maybe do some upgrades like the pipe, etc. Got any info on that power commander? Also might consider rejet or something. How are the Pilots working? I may throw a set of those on as well. Maybe new chain. New clutch cable. And whatever else - like spark plugs, air filter.

No, I love the copper or burtnt orange, that's why I bought that color.
But I got a question. Is your bike carbed or FI. I think it's carbed but I could be wrong. In any affect, you can't use a Power Commander and rejet.
The pilot POWERs F'in ROCK!!! Twisty was the man on the recomendation. If you do a chain, don't do ANYTHING but a DiD!!!!!!!!! NOTHING!!!
Spark plugs, sense you're going to spend $6 for NGK double plats, upgrade them to Iridium's. I did and they rock as well. It will cost ya like a additional $1.50...but well worth it!!

My bike is carbed so does that mean no Power Commander? :sob:
No rejet either? :sob:
Then what can I do for more HP?? I NEED MORE POWER SCOTTY!
Mudpuppy 09-28-2004, 04:27 PM The other banner thats in the garage usually goes to track days. Is there somewhere else it should be?
I don't know. All I know is that supposedly it was supposed to be at Wheels of Tomorrow or something blah blah blah - All I ever hear is bitching about the gd banner - it is nothing against you or Twisty it was just an overall observation - somehow we can never get the gd banner thing right for some reason so I was saying it is dangerous to add another TWF banner to the mix but if they wanted to I would personally take control of it and fly it at any and all events if that is what they are looking for. So don't take my comment personal - it was a generic observation - I have heard nothing but grief about both banners from day 1...

No because your bike is carbed you have to re-jet.
Carbs=re-jet
FI = Power Commander
Bring on the ponies!

Got it. I will rejet then. New pipe + rejet. Any other bright ideas for more ponies? The aesthetics are all fine and well but I need MORE POWER. If I had a choice between horsepower and fixing the damage I would opt for the horsepower hands down - I could always get some paint and paint it flat black like someone suggested.
Gas Man 09-28-2004, 11:09 PM Yeah, go flat black with loads more power!!!
Pippi 09-29-2004, 07:59 AM I don't know. No, I didnt take it personal, just following up. I had the banner at Wheels of Tomorrow but they said there was no where to put it so we did not put it up.
Gas Man 09-29-2004, 10:39 AM See, the problem is that we need to goto the head of the household. Pippi! Got to her and you get many things, the straight deal, the real deal, the stuff gets done, and you'll get all kinds of stuff that she'll just pull out of no-where. Remember, she's a woman and likes to amaze us men, just to see the dumb look on our face. Why else do you think she rides that sweet bike! Just to watch the men's jaw drop!!
Mudpuppy 09-29-2004, 10:52 AM No, I didnt take it personal, just following up. I had the banner at Wheels of Tomorrow but they said there was no where to put it so we did not put it up.
See now I am only get half the story - I had no idea that it was being hung at the track - that is WAY cool. I know there was bitching about the one at RL and I agree it was bs that they took forever to hang it. Then I am hearing why aren't we flying the other banner at places like Wheels of Tomorrow, etc. and I am thinking why aren't we as well? I was assuming that it was lack of proper coordination by the club as a whole but I hear bitching but I don't hear the other half of the story. Thanks for the info and keep up the good work, over.
Regardless though my point was that we have had problems with both our club banners for whatever reason and not to blame any one person in particular - just an observation which I think everyone would agree to - there have been issues. That was all I was really trying to say, I was not looking to attack anyone, etc. Sorry for the confusion.
Mudpuppy 10-21-2004, 09:59 PM I just found out today that Roger is in rehab now which is great. His wife, Shannon, said he is back to his old stubborn self. He is doing much much better. She sent a thank you card to work - I will scan it in and post it here tomorrow.

Gas Man 10-25-2004, 01:41 AM That is beyond great news MP! I'm so glad to hear it!! Post up that card and give us some details on everything when you get them.
Has he made a full mental recovery?

Yes MP..post it up for us. Good to hear that he is doing a lot better then before. Keep us updated as how he is doing from time to time. :dthumb:
Mudpuppy 10-25-2004, 07:20 PM Well I went to see Roger on Saturday. He is in rehab right now and they use a machine that is quite similar to an engine hoist to help him stand. He is doing much better. He was sleeping when I got there and when he woke up he was pretty disoreinted so it took him a few to come to. But right before I left I said bye and he was able to say bye back to me which was cool. His speech is not all that good but I got the picture. I will post the thank you letter tomorrow. For some reason it didn't scan in so I have to rescan.
Gas Man 10-25-2004, 07:56 PM Ok, looking for seeing it when you get a chance!!
twisty 10-25-2004, 07:58 PM That is great to hear...
Need4Speed 10-25-2004, 08:21 PM seems there are more trajedy endings these days than good ones..good to hear a positive turn for once. let him know TWF is keeping a good thought for him.
Mudpuppy 10-25-2004, 10:04 PM His wife, his Mom, his Sister, his wife's Dad have all passed on many many many thanks for the WOS / TWF support on the ride. They are very very greatful. Next year knowing Roger and his strong will he will be riding with us in the ride. I will rescan that thank you tomorrow and post it.
Mudpuppy 10-26-2004, 12:00 PM Here it is. I scanned it in to post it here:
Need4Speed 10-26-2004, 12:02 PM AWESOME!! Good to hear! :)
Gas Man 10-26-2004, 01:59 PM Yeah thanks for keeping us updated and sharing that with us. Those of us that went to the Ride for Roger were touched. It is always nice to see MC riders of all kinds come together to support each other.
Mudpuppy 01-03-2005, 11:47 AM Just a quick update:
1. Roger was home for Christmas. He is doing much better - coherent and back to his old self. Him riding next year in the ride seems more like a reality now. I am going to go see him soon and I will update you on his status.
2. I finally got the video into a format Twisty can use and make into a DVD. Hopefully we will have something real soon on that (a month or two). I will post when it is completed and hopefully post a link to it.
Gas Man 01-03-2005, 03:22 PM This is GREAT news for Roger and his family!!! I'm so happy to hear this!! Hopefully, he'll make his own ride this coming summer!!!
Can't wait to see the video!!! Get it done Twisty!!
