i think this is the rite place for this, so here goes: its a 1980 kawasaki kz1000 ltd, o.g. crotch rocket from back in tha day. i got it bone stock except the pipe 4yrs ago with the tank dented up. painted it, and rolled like that for 2 1/2 years and then i got the swingarm, airshifter, back rim came off a honda cbr600f4, gsxr750 rear axle, drag bars, tail lite and some other random stuff from ebay, dennis kirk, and stuff. just got the seat recovered a month ago. tore it apart last june, got it back 2getha by august. i got alotta build up pics and and i made alota stuff for it, but i just realized i cant add attachments so ill try and do it some other way. the only other plans i got for it now are a big motor, swap a new front end maybe, chrome, and maybe a new set of wheels. first bike i owned, first bike im building, and of course, first bike i dropped  ps: icant seem to upload all the pics at once, i have like 6-7 to upload, but its not happenin

i really like your bike! :dthumb: my dad has an 82 kz1000, which was the first streetbike i ever rode, i love those things! thats a sweet shot from the rear. nice. since you put a f4 rear rim, maybe you should update with a new front end off a newer sportbike?? some inverted forks??

He'll find it. He's gotta go down the row of threads and input a little something into everyone. He's the king. Yeah I got here... I start from the oldest and work my way up... Nice bike man! Alot of nice work. I would love to see some more pics of this thing! I love the swingarm and the rear tire. Some inverted forks and a match front rim would be a nice touch as well, with the painted front fender. The anti-chrome fender would look a bit nicer! Do they make any dress up attachments for the motor? Or maybe get it polished... I think that would add major more bling to the bike and make it look not as dated... :2cents:

dnyce
03-09-2006, 10:58 PM
yea, thats 26yr old aluminum, and you can tell! the motor im working on is either gona be black cases and block and chrome all the covers, or just chrome/polish the whole thing. im thinkn of raking it about 3-4 degrees, new front end, 10" over swingarm(its 8" over rite now), led tailight molded in the rear fender and rearsets. but thats wen i get alotta money to blow

bout 20k, almost 21k, 2700 of them are mine, mostly 1/4 at a time. had a valve job at 19k, jus because. its been to fresno and back, no probs. thats like 600miles i think.

Gas Man
03-09-2006, 11:10 PM

okay, cool, here we go: 1. stock pic, i started racing it rite after i got it painted, rusty tank, messed up stock carbs and all. ran 13.6 all day at 3500 ft elevation, didnt really know how to leave on it yet either but i learned, sorta 2. this is when i tore the back end off, and after i had hacked the struts off the swingarm, and the peg mounts off the frame. kinda of a useless pic, not much else there really, musta got tired of workin on it and started taking pics 3. swingarm and back rim, took 4ever to find a axle to fit 4. starting to come together alil, at least it had two wheels anyway. wat u cant see is that everything is off, the wheels not centered, sprocket not centered the other way, and theres a big gap where there shouldnt be. headaches ensued, lol now i gota take a test, finish later

dnyce
03-14-2006, 12:05 AM
okay, lets see 5. here i just got the back wheel off, and the rear fender, along with all that extra under fender nonsense. if u look at this pic, and pic #2, u can see what all i hacked off. 6.heres the other side of number 5, you can see the old 630 chain, the swingarm washers, and the air shifter bottle. 7. as u can see, no clearance, i had to cut the fender out, and remount it, or raise the bike up . i prefer long and low, so out came the cutting wheel for the 15th time. hard to see still, but nothin is lining up rite still 8&9. i got the shock mounts welded on where i want em, and im basically checkin which fender i like better. the one that doesnt match the rest of the bike i got off ebay, and cut it up, extended it with fiberglass, and threw it on there. i went wit the stock one cuz it was painted already (lazy) and it looked betta i thought. if i go with a longer swingarm in the future, like 10-12" over, ill use the one i made, and mold the taillite in2 it. 10&11. i got the whole thing together, and im mockin it up for the shock mounts. the shocks are on wit zip ties, cuz im moving em back and forth. thats also the 929 caliper and hanger, which i didnt end up using. i wanted to use the gold caliper, but it mounted diferent than the 600 caliper, and i had to use the 600 hanger. 12&13. mileage when i first got it-17k, and mileage two months ago-20k mileage now-22k, and u can see i painted the trees, changed the bars, grips, and added some bar ends. 14&15. nice paint job, shows betta in the sun tho. also, its the basic finished result, i did had the seat redone, painted the rear of the frame, and the swingarm. and added a stabilizer 16. different angles, i made the taillite bracket from some steel pieces i cut out with the cutting wheel. i need a bandsaw, i went thru like 3 5inch cutting wheels. i made the chain guard pretty good too, it mounts to the bottom shock mount, which is kinda hidden, and it mounts in the front too, which is completly hidden. 17. u can really see all the bracketry and stuff how we mounted the caliper the way honda had it for a clean look wit no brake stay arm, but u can see that i completly overlooked the spot beneath the shock mount wen i was smoothing the swingarm out. i didnt notice it till i painted it, and it bugs the hell outa me, but im gona paint the whole frame soon wen i pull the motor, so ill redo the arm then. and the easiest piece to make of all, the exhaust hanger! my fave piece:lol: 18. thats how the rear of a bike should look, rite? i used all new bolts, stainless steel brake and i have a polished bolt kit for the engine, just gota get the engine pieces chromed. should be done wit the motor in a few weeks, a 1260, ported head, big cams, lock-up, etc etc. should run 9.20's:dthumb:
