JEKYLL 03-20-2006, 10:30 PM I'm really havin a tough time gettin rid of this part throttle problem...any thing I've done changes the other areas of the carb circuits/RPM's but the part throttle thing still remains. Say I'm goin around a corner and I want to hold a steady RPM,it dosn't want to run nicely.I just give it a touch more and it rockets forward, give it less and it backs way down:cursin: those w/ the same bike...(98-02 ZX6R or 05-06 ZZR)...how are yours runnin? got the same problem? I've tried every combination of main jets, slide spring, mixture screws
Hmmm. throttle position sensor? Yours is carbed?

That's a common problem with the Yamahas. Yes the ZX6R has carbs.
:sorry: no suggestions.
You also have to look at electrical side too. Good luck.
JEKYLL 03-20-2006, 11:48 PM Just made my way through the Factory Pro site to the "tuning CV carbs" page;good stuff there! I have given some thought to the ignition... but like injection, this ignition is controlled by ecu and the only things to change would be the TPS position or an advanced timing wheel. I have a wheel but not installed yet,I just think that there is a fuel prob. of being TOO rich or TOO lean at a particular point, don't want to "bandaid" a problem, just can't figure out which circuit or device(floats, pilot jet) is out of adj.:cursin:  :bonk:

it will be a frustrating task, but ya gotta get it fixed.
No matter what gear you're in it does it? What RPM's?

sounds like a lean fuel/air mixture surge.
do some more reading here: http://www.roadstarmagazine.com/art_muckercarb.shtml
make sure you put that airfilter back in.

larryg 03-24-2006, 10:49 PM How far open do you have the throttle when this happens?
Larry
GearGrabinGuy 03-25-2006, 12:48 AM I dunno.. I have the 02' ZX6R and I havent had any probs with mine?? I wish I could help. But I would say definatly to lean, but then again I may be wrong. Im still getting know know how these fine tuned bikes act with adjustments.
GearGrabinGuy 03-25-2006, 09:22 AM Ok I was looking through my manual and we do have a throttle position sensor for the ignigiton and it very well have something to do with that. I would look that way maby.
JEKYLL 03-25-2006, 08:41 PM Hey...I'm not sure how to attach a link, but see my thread on "finally...".I got the carbs all straight! Actually I've got some more time to test her out a little more since that and she really runs great, perfect actually,Grinin' from ear to ear you know!!! Um to answer a few questions...R1...It was a real frustratin task, but well worth takin my time and doin it right! Larry g...this was basically a part throttle thing,3-4K RPM's,also an "off the line" low power, then I also had no choke;applying choke would only kill it...,accel to decel light roll on's were not smooth and crisp.G.Gr.Guy...like I said, check that other thread, and if your throttle resp. isn't nice and crisp in all areas, try makin some adj.,you may not even realize it's off,I wasn't sure what the deal was but even off the show room floor I could tell somthin wasn't right, every one thought it was just me havin the itchy wrench hands again...
