My R6 vs a 636...my review!!

hes my little brother...i tought him to ride (for what its worth) we were on a stretch of interstate(i know i know dont preach please:dupe: ) we both droped to 3rd, i got a little jump and he couldnt catch me all the way to 167mph(not sure the speed accuracy, thats what speedometer said) but come on i weight 30 more #'s and hes on a true 636cc bike compared to 599. that so called king of the 600's shoulda easily got me....dont ya think?

I have a friend that has a 04 636 and a friend that has an 04 R6 and both of them were playing on the interstate and that 636 was quick on the straights, but until my buddy did a alot of work to his 04 R6 with all the mods he wasn't faster. now the 636 is terrible on the twisties, but it's fast in the straights and that's about all it's good for....also the 636 is one of the most uncomfortable sportbikes I've ever sat on. YAMI all the WAY!!!!

you guys have got to at least stop off and ck out my site coming...there is belive it or not some pretty sick bikes here in Little Rock. its kinda a small city so 90% of the (crotch rocket) riders ride together. and most of them are showing up for the photo shoot were doing. there gonna be a ton of picts of the Little Rock guys on the site. from the results of the emails ive been getting its gonna be 150-200 bikes show up. from 250 ninjas to my buddies turbo charged 1390 busa(now this is a mean ass bike). and if your ever in the LR area give us a call...we'd love to have ya ride with us. my phn# is gonna be on the site.:twfrox:

i can get it up...its pretty cool to be 6 bikes 3 lanes wide at 80-90 standing on the pegs on the rear wheel..but i just love riding, and bikes in general. not everyone in our club wheelies..and not everyone drags. were just a bunch of laid back hillbillies that can apreciate the open road. absolutly nothing like a saterday afternoon sunny skies, about 80 deg. just rolling thru the hills 20-30 deep. people definatly stop and look. thats what i love about it!:cheers:

I think the comparison I'm looking forward to is the 06R6 vs the 06GSXR600... PERSONALLY I like the way the GSXR fit me better... the R6 was just too cramped for me. I've never really been a GSXR fan (only because EVERYONE seems to have one) but between the two as far as how they fit me... I like the GSXR better... but I do love the Yami :drool:

That's got to be an 06 R6s with Raven fairings or an '04 w/ raven fairings. The Ravens's came out in '05. Yo, Mikey, fill us in damn it!

i am very happy with my 636. great handling in the turns, fast on the straight-away's, and very responsive with the help of a PCIII-USB. i've got over 15,xxx on mine and it's an 04 that wasn't ridden for 8 months due to being deployed/winter mods. bought it brand new in march of 04. and never been laid down or droped, and gone through 2 tires (and not from burnouts) at the drag strip i raced a 05 R-1, and beat him by a 10th of a second with just a few mods like slip-on Hindle exhaust, +4 sprocket, and a K&N filter (he wasn't a very good rider, but how hard can it be to go straight fast with a liter bike) my best time was an 11.5 at 122 with a 1.9 60ft at 5,300 elevation (ALB new mexico) i'm looking for a mid 10 with the new mods, so if anyone wants to drag race and is close to NM, let me know.

i was just trying to clarify to everyone what kinda bike you had. yes it's an r6, just a different model. i didn't say your a newbie at riding. people so often think my bike is a zx-10 (and i had someone tell me "sweet R-1!!!!!) as long as you ride the bike, and aren't a poser/squid i could care less. but i think you should be shun for at least a week for your squidly mistake and also think you should race my 636 to prove yourself:willy:

I was in the stealer today actually looking at the Raven R6s. There was two of them sitting around, so I decided to quiz them a little. I said how big are the throttle bodies? They said it's basically an 05 R6. I said "Is it an 05 motor?" They said "It's basically an 05 R6". i said "No it's not" they said yes it is. I said "Look at the forks and tell me these are off an '05". They said "Yeah, the forks are from '04". Being that the body hasn't changed one bit between 03-06 (R6s model) I told them "It's basically an '04". They had no reply. That's when I asked them about this '04 R1 for sale. I said how much. they said, 9999. I laughed and said, how many miles? They said 12K. I said, no wonder why it's been here for like four months and walked away from those clowns. i went and talked to another salesman just for kicks. I mentioned the R1, and asked him why it's priced so high. He said cuz it's got a lot of mods. I said, besides the Micron slip-ons and the Vortex sliders, what else does it have? he said, bar ends, screen and a Vortex gas cap. I laughed and walked away. All this was done while I was waiting for my buddy to pick me up when I dropped my bike off. OH! Get this. Here's the funny part. They had a brand new '05 R1 there for 9999. What a bunchh of ****in idiots.

Well my theory is "If it aint broke, don't fix it". I love the way my YAMAHA handles and I imagine the R1 handles like a dream, so that's what I'm gonna shoot for.

I know this is an old post, but the 636 is not the king of all 600s. The ZX-6RR is a 599cc but has more HP that the ZX-6R 636. The 636 is very tame for the current 600s. It doesnt really compare to the R6, GSX-R600 or a CBR600RR. Its really more like a ZZR-600, FZR600, or a CBR600F4i

I ride with three guys that have 6R's and there's only one that's as fast as me...in the street anyway. Me and Zortness need to have a shoot out one of these days. He's got a '06 or a '05.

never had the oportunity to throw a leg over an 06 R6. but I have ridden an 05 R6 and a 06 636. Now Im not saying anything bad about the 636 its a nice bike and is PLETY quick and powerful but that 05 R6 is just insane, is so amazingly responsive and flickable its unreal!!!!! I wouldn't know about the speed diffrences since neither are my bikes so I didn't really pound on either of them. The 636 didn't really seem to make power till much higher on the tach where the R6 seems to always be ready to BLAST with the simple twist of the wrist. LOVE THE R6 and I don't even own one.......YET. for now IM on a gsxr and LOVE IT but if I ever switch or get a second bike it will be a R6......or maybe a 1000RR....or a 10R..... I could also use a chop just to cruise around.... the 636 was pretty nice to so I might have to grab one of those....HELL I WANT THEM ALL!!!!!

:iagree: Yes, it is true on racetrack. In my opinion this is more than 75% in the street. I know much pilot who faster on 600 than others on 1000 (on road and on ractrack too).

these days all the bikes are so close it doesnt really matter...the kaw has more power but it all comes down to the rider...when i first started ridin i was gettin beat by 600's....so get wat ur comfortable with and learn that bike to a t....very rarely will u run into sum1 that can ride like u or as fast as u if u know ur bike n know the exact point where to shift/ rpms and clutch slip to launch at in a drag race
