Earlzach 03-29-2006, 10:11 AM Does anyone use the car wash to hose off the bike for a cleaning? Mine is in need for a good scrubbin but I dont want to unroll the hose right now. So I am asking if anyone uses the car wash bay to knock off the grime and take a mit to clean it up?

havent tried that, but i have a good friend who refuses to use water on his at all, he uses detailers and cleanser on everything instead!
tweak89 03-29-2006, 10:31 AM I use the Mr. Clean Auto Dry stuff at home and it works great. I have taken my other bikes to the car wash before after I had ridden in the rain and gotten all sorts of grime and dirt on the bike. But I use the low pressure setting.
I would guess as long as you don't blast something loose you'd be ok.
jtemple 03-29-2006, 11:02 AM I have heard that the Mr. Clean car wash works well. I use Armor All bucketless car wash (a gel you squirt right on the bike, or on the rag) and a garden hose.
Then I use a leafblower to dry it off. It's great for preventing water spots, and getting the water out of all the little areas that drip for days (radiator, oil cooler, etc).
Earlzach 03-29-2006, 11:40 AM Thanks for the replies, The garden hose is comming out.
I guess if I had to think about it or guess myself I should have figured it isnt the No1 choise of hosing.

hell no!! but thats just me. every time i clean the bike i use wizard's products. you have to order it online and is a great cleaner. i have a bunch of their products and it's all i use on the bike. no cheap chit. i hand wash it and when i detail it for a show, it takes about 3-4hrs to do.
i refuse to use a pressure washer, or even a nozzle on the hose.
Gas Man 03-29-2006, 12:11 PM You can use a car wash but you must spray from a far. Stand at least 3-4' from the bike. The pressure washers can put water in places you don't want water.
Furthermore, try not to spray too hard from the rear. The bikes are designed to take water from the top and from the front. Not being blasted from the rear..think about it!
The best thing is no water but after that..use a garden hose. The great thing about the mr clean is that it filters out crap which can get into seals and build up and cause problems. Especially if you have hard water. (hard menaing full of extra minerals and stuff)
Earlzach 03-29-2006, 08:19 PM I have been wanting to post all day after the wash job with a picture to avoid this":nopicsbs: " but I havent had my photo approved yet. So here is my worthless post without a pic. I used the Mr clean kit and a wash mit and put a coat of meguires Gold polish it looks real good and I hope some day you all can see the picture.:disapp:
R1up0n1 03-29-2006, 11:02 PM When I had my SV in the bed of my truck sometimes I would take the truck out to the car wash. I was very careful once I got to the bike. I was keep my distance with the wand when I was around the paint, but once I got to the frame, and under carrage I'd blast away.
There's nothing like a good ole hand wash!

jeeps84 03-29-2006, 11:34 PM Looking sharp and always be careful with pressurized water. It gets into places it shouldn't.
