Great way to get rid telemarketers

I got this in an email -- this would work great :rofl3: Subject: Telemarketers The phone rang as I was sitting down to my evening meal, and as I answered, I was greeted with "Is this Karl Brummer." Not sounding anything like my name, I asked who is calling. The telemarketer said he was with The Rubber Band Powered Freezer Company or something like that. I asked him if he knew Karl personally and why was he calling this number? I then said, off to the side, "get some pictures of the body at various angles and the blood smears." I turned back to the phone and advised the caller that he had entered a murder scene and must stay on the line because we had already traced this call and he would be receiving a summons to testify in this murder case. I questioned the caller at great length as to his name, address, phone number at home, at work, who he worked for, how he knew the dead guy and could he prove where he had been about one hour before he made this call. The telemarketer was getting very concerned and his answers were given in a shaky voice. I then told him we had located his position and the police were entering the building to take him into custody, at that point I heard the phone fall and the scurrying of his running away. My wife asked me as I returned to our table why I had tears streaming down my face and, so help me, I couldn't tell her for about fifteen minutes. My meal was cold, but it was the best meal in a long, long time.

why dont ya'll post your numbers on the DO Not Call Registry? I did that when it first came out and I update every year and I never have to deal with telemarketers!! The only calls I get are the charities for firemen and policemen...i wish they fell under the telemarketer banner, they call me constantly...i just dont ever answer my phone when I am at home...

My favorite thing to do is to try and sell them something. I like to sell them frozen burritos. Another one that is fun to do is to keep saying hello like you can't hear them, I like to do it till they hang up.:dthumb: -tom-

Prank calls are kind of a favorite High School past time for me. Now I have people calling me that I can mess with! I did get a nice little piece of info out of one of the callers. They are not supposed to hang up on you!! I had the guy on for about 15 minutes. He even had a conversation with my dog. The guy said he would get his supervisor and then would put me on hold. At one time I held for 4-6 minutes. When he came back on I said "Yep, still here; Bring on that supervisor." Never did talk to him!!

The worst is when they somehow get ahold of your cell number :cursin:  :iagree: I get all company info and then ask if I'm being recorded. I then tell them to turn it on if its not already. Then I threaten to report if they call my cell again. They best way to avoid telemarketers is not to list number in public places and contest.
