TOMMYTOM 04-18-2006, 08:27 PM hey all- been gone a while- I feel like a newbie again. I guess I never really lost that status to begin with...anyway, I finally have the $ saved for a new bike. (some of you may remember me rambling (crying) on about my Kawasaki getting stolen last November) I'm trying to decide between the 50th anniversary Yellow R6 and the Raven R6. what do you guys think? I plan to buy in the next few weeks!! I live in Houston but will probably be going to Mississippi ( lakehill motors ) to make the purchase. Best price I have found within reasonable driving distance. They want $8999.99 out the door for the yellow anniversary R6. Opinions?
itgirl25 04-19-2006, 07:27 AM i say go for the anniversary edition R6. it's a collectible. but i don't envy your decision, both are great choices. :luck:
ne1469 04-19-2006, 07:39 AM :dthumb: 50th anniversary Yellow R6:drool: its a unique color scheme...definitely stands out among the sea of blue, green, red, black, silver bikes.
Gr1n1n 04-19-2006, 07:58 AM Until I saw the Yellow R6 in person, I didn't think the color scheme was all that. Then I saw it at the last motorcycle show and it was gorgeous..... :2cents:
anny yellow!
i still like the blue the best, but you didn't have that as an option.
fatburg 04-19-2006, 08:28 AM Doesn't the anniversary model have some performance perks as well as a cool color scheme? Or are the Raven and Anniversary the exact same except for color?
marko138 04-19-2006, 09:01 AM I gotta vote Raven. I love the blacked out look of that sucker. I'm not really down w/ yellow but it is different and collectable.:2cents: :luck:
marko138 04-19-2006, 09:02 AM Oh...and someone post up some pics so Fatburg can see the two...and for eye candy.
:nopicsbs:
fatburg 04-19-2006, 03:12 PM I just went a lookin....with now difference in performance...Definately the Raven. That thing is gorgeous.

:iagree: Love the raven scheme.
fatburg 04-20-2006, 07:07 AM Don't get me wrong, the anniversary is not an ugly duckling. But the blacked out look is just sweet. complimented well with the red accents.
jeeps84 04-20-2006, 12:19 PM I gotta vote Raven. I love the blacked out look of that sucker.
:withstupi
BladeFreak 04-20-2006, 12:31 PM I'm liking the yellow ... love that diagonal black line effect on the side view :dthumb:

I love that sig Blade!
Back _Marker 04-21-2006, 07:49 AM the side fairings look disturbing. looks like the designers forgot about it and just slapped something on. i would vote for the raven. all black hides that disformity.

marko138 04-21-2006, 08:56 AM That thing just doesn't look right below the white.:2cents:
TOMMYTOM 04-23-2006, 06:59 PM Thx for all the replies... I think I'm leaning towards the Yellow R6... one reason is I live in Houston and I'm scared the black is going to be too hot. - ??? we'll see- i guess when I go to the dealer- i'll see which one pops out at me first. I can't wait.
jeeps84 04-24-2006, 12:54 AM i guess when I go to the dealer- i'll see which one pops out at me first. I can't wait.
That's the way I do it when unsure of colors to pick.
marko138 04-24-2006, 04:50 AM Can't really go wrong with any of the new 6's.
TOMMYTOM 05-12-2006, 09:13 PM well after much consideration and a few test rides- I am the proud new owner of a 2006 R1 anniversary edition. I couldn't be happier. I've already put 350 miles on it and can't wait till the sun comes back up tomorrow AM...
After riding my 99' ZX750 this new Yamaha seems so rider friendly. The center of gravity is much lower and the suspension is awesome. This power is seemless... infact the one major decision making factor which caused me to decide on the R1 over the R6 was the fact that the R6 seemed to lag between gears unless you were hammering the RPM's. Don't get me wrong the R6 is sweet- but I prefer the torque and the smoother power delivery with the R1. I can see why they call the R6 a track bike. It seems to prefer being ridden hard.
I also bought all new gear from Cycle gear. I got the shoei X-11 helmet which is super light weight with great air flow- I got an Alpinestar mesh jacket with matching mess pull over riding pants- I just need some boots now. I'd have to say cycle gear rocks- I'm so impressed with the selection and the customer service there.
Now I just need some flush mout front signals and a tail eliminator kit... I feel like a poser riding around with this giant ass license plate bracket- :leaving:
Anyway- I'm loving this new bike- new technology is amazing... so much has changed sine 99'. :mc1:
TOMMYTOM 05-12-2006, 09:20 PM I'll post pics as soon as I can figure out how... I'm as computer illiterate as they come. :bonk:
Gas Man 05-13-2006, 10:25 AM That is awesome...can't wait to see the pics...
I suggest you just upload them to the TWF gallery... that is the first!

Maybe try less pics at one time...or are you only doing 1 at a time? Sounds like it's timing out. Or try smaller size.

jeeps84 11-02-2006, 01:00 AM Remember guys, size matters. If the pick is to big or has is invalid file type. They wont upload. First 1000 members and supporting members have extra privileges while others are limited to upload size and number per day. Plus, pics have to be moderated before they will show up after they are uploaded.
marko138 11-02-2006, 05:57 AM Working for me again. I tried less pics at one time. 3 to be exact.

No, it's a revolver on each sides pointing down to her G spot. The guns say "DLITALIEN" on them.
