Plus, that evening, Gary Eagan, one of the best long-distance riders will give a talk and slide show. It's about his motorcycle adventure from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Key West, Florida. I had chores to do on Saturday morning. When I called up about the Ducati demo rides around 1, all the 45 minute time slots were filled. So if you are going to a demo ride, go early. But I enjoyed the Gary Eagan talk and slide show at night. This Iron Butt guy has won every long distance riding event, and he's been all over the world. And he's done 'em all on a Ducati. His worst crash was on the Dalton Highway, the dirt road from Fairbanks up to Prudhoe Bay. A truck coming the other way threw up so much dust, he couldn't see the other truck behind him. He was lucky the drivers were there. Bears usually eat anyone alone on the road. Suprisingly, he had very little trouble with the Ducati's. Put over 1 million miles on one. His favorite was the Multistrada. His favorite tires for handling and wear were the Avon Sport touring tires, the same ones I just mounted on mine. His favorite tire repair kit was a plug and go kit. His favorite museum was the Barber motorcycle museum in Alabama. His favorite country to ride in was New Zealand. And his favorite area to ride in the US was southern Utah. For $700@ donated to charity, three people could sign up and take a three-day trip with Gary to southern Utah. All the gas, meals, and hotels would be taken care of. What a guy. I'd like to go, but it's 485 mi the first day, 442 the second, and 635 the third day. A little too much for me. The dinner and talk were held at a nearby Ducati dealer. When I talked to the owner about missing the Ducati demo rides at the other distant dealer, he said not to worry because he was going to have demo rides soon. So I had a good time anyway.
