Hey, can anybody tell me, is the ZZR1200 Kawi's attempt to build a 'Busa ? I am thinking of stepping up to a bigger bike, and I like the Sport/Tour combination, and if I was actually looking at a ZZR1200, the one I saw was gorgeous. Of course it was in Silver, but it really looked like a nice handling bike, and a good comprimise between all out sport, and touring comfort. Any opinions here ? Does anybody have any input from the owner/rider perspective ? Thank's, :seeya: Steve.

Steve, you're missing one big bike. The ZX-12R is the beast to take out the Busa. It has been around for nearly as long as the Busa or longer. They have been like the Mustang vs camera. I won't say anything more, so that I don't start a big debate on which is faster...

The busa was Suzuki's ultimate beast ride, made to compete with the ZX12 and become King of the world. now whether they've accomplished that is up for debate.

Hey, I appreciate the input, but nobody talked about the ZZR ? I am only interested in a sport/tour bike, as I do occasionally have a passenger on the back, and of course, I want her to be comfortable as much as possible ! I ride 5 or 6 hours at a time, so therefore, the tour style bikes are what I'm interested in ! However, Thank's again to all.... :seeya: Steve.

The ZZR models, Kats, Interceptors, FJR's they are all great sport-tourers, and would all do you well. :)

Hello everybody ! :seeya: I did a little looking this weekend, and the shop I was in had a ZZR1200 in black that looked pretty good, but what really caught my eye was a, you guessed it, ZX12R in a bright blue ! I had dropped my Goldwing off at the shop back home in FL to get some brake work done, and when I questioned my buddy/mechanic, he said the same thing about the ZX12R. What he said was, the ZX!@R was really the first king of the big sport bikes, and that Suzuki came out with the 'busa to dethrone the ZX12R. This from a 'Busa owner ! I may go back and take a closer look at the 12R in a week or two, maybe the price will come down, as the dealership is needing the floor space for all the '05 models coming in ! This is the same place where I bought my Katana, and I feel that they made me a good deal on the Kat, so who know's, I may change brand loyalty in a week or two ! On another note, while in Augusta, GA I hopped on the Kat, and rode over into the Blue Ridge mountains, traveling up Hwy 129 out of Athens, Ga for a great little weekend run on some twisty stuff. Weather was perfect, and all the tourist traffic, and bike traffic has pretty much left for the year, so I had a blast ! :here: Later, :redmc: Steve.

Sounds like you had a blast riding those mountains, sounds like a good time!! and yeah, the 12 ninja had been the king beast of all liter bikes for many years, till suzuki took it upon themselves to take that throne with the busa. Personally, I'll take a 12R anyday over a busa. I just think they are leaner, and more comfortable to ride..not near as bulky..but thats just me

I just can not find it on the busa to get comfortable at all. They are built like a tank and just don't feel right under me. Now the 12R is a total different story. Not as bulky nor does it feel like a tank. I would also take the 12R over the Busa anyday. :)

ZZR is intended for the longer rides, not quite the HP of the 12R but same block and potential.. except i htink the ZZR is carb'd still. The ZZR has a more upright position, you may not fele the diff in a 20 mile ride but a 6 hour one and u sure will. And most likely the passenger pegs are lower and more comfy for the 2 up rider as well....if u ride long and alot.... go ZZR if you prefer the ultimate in performance (Straightline at least) look 12R. Course once u hit a corner a 500lb wet bike wont handle like the 6R, thoguh if u are looking for a 1200CC cornering should not be goal number one...The zzr looks good and is practical, if u like it go for it. I'm more into the all around bike the the Z1000 fits the touring bill better and still aobut 100lbs lighter,(once u ditch the 40lb exhaust) so it handles like a smaller bike, and is geared LOW so itll hold its weigh with most any sport bike till 100 or 120. if u want to race over 120 then go the 12R.

Heck, compare you older style GSXR to the new ones like Twisty's and it's night and day. One of the reasons I didn't buy a GSXR when I bought my 9R, was how un-comfortable it was. Now Twisty's GSXR 1000 is actually pretty comfortable!
