Hey all you military folks...
I was watching a segment on Nightline. They feature a few severly injured Iraq soldiers. My first thought was complete sorrow. I just can't believe what these guys/gals have gone thru. Burn victums, lost limbs, ect... I couldn't help it.. it just brings tears to my eyes.
But the VA hospital had this Polytrama Team of like 30 specialists in everything. Spine Docs, muscle docs, re-ebilitation TEAMS, ect.
Have any of you seen this?
Does it make you feel better that you'll be taken care of if the bad happens?
I just am broken up watching/seeing such things. And it only increases my appreciation for those in the military... :pat:

Unfortunately, many have paid for our and others freedoms. All have my respect and gratitude. I wish we could do more for the ones still suffering from defending those freedoms.

All I got over there was a hernia... (thankfully)
I agree it is the medical teams over there are amazing. With the advancement of body armor and medical treatment there are a LOT of people who are surviving situations that would have killed them in previous wars. Sadly it might be more and more common to see people with amputations and burn injuries. I really don't think the veterans administration is ready for the load.

Like he said, with the advancement of body armor, our training, and the advancement of medical services in the military, I feel a lot more comfortable if I ever have to go over there.
Yet at the same time I am also worried about getting wounded or burned. But its a risk we all are willing to take when we sign that dotted line. If I get activated or go anywhere I will just think of Lt Speers from the Band of Brothers series when hes talking to that young pvt and says somthing along the lines of "you have to come to the conclusion that your already dead if you are going to survive this war, you can't worry about death or getting hurt because if you do you will be ineffective as a soldier"
