jtemple 06-01-2006, 05:42 PM I'm guessing it's one of those "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" prices.
King Bob 06-01-2006, 05:59 PM I read somewhere it was in the $60K range.
this bike is AWESOME lookin.
WarpedRotor 06-01-2006, 06:01 PM "current 999R owners have sale priority" I couldn't afford a 999R so, I will just dry hump the one on the sales floor until they ask me to leave, again.

My new wallpaper! There it is boys and girls, 200hp out the box streetbike. That bike makes me sweat, dammit-
JK_DILLA 06-01-2006, 08:48 PM Quick thought- because this is now a street bike that you can get "off the show room floor", is it legal for Superbike racing? If it is, OMG! :2cents:
Gas Man 06-02-2006, 12:54 AM I'll take two!
Just don't tell Uma!

ScottSellersUNR 06-02-2006, 01:11 AM i always said if Ducati or Aprilia made a 4 cylinder bike id be in love... and i am... I said id by one too... but well screw that for 60K ill pimp a Zx10R and still have money for a economy car to boot!
it is gorgeus though
and yeah if it becomes Superbike legal... its gonna be a BEAST... im still surprised of the Steel frame though
id imagine with superbike work to it its a 220HP bike and taking all other brands by at least 10HP... itll really run the strights.
I'd assume it also has a factory (well developed) TCS in it already too.

youre in luck, Aprilia is supposed to have a V4 out in 08(?). If this bike is Superbike/ Superstock legal, then do you think the other mfg's will bring out their soon to be illegal GP bikes in street form just to be competitive? If so then we would be some lucky muh-fudders

I would pilot that in a heartbeat if i had the dough.
ScottSellersUNR 06-02-2006, 12:44 PM if they all do bring out 200HP bikes hten i hope they all dont become 60K for a 1000cc SS bike.
Maybe itll end up in nitrogen forks from the facotry without a big price gain though...i would love that.

Livrot 09-29-2006, 04:15 PM To early.
I wonder if some rich newbie who doesn't even ride his 999R will get one.
Knight 10-03-2006, 12:22 PM WOW! I'd give my left nut for one of those!
Along the same lines check out this project Duc, it's pretty freakin sweet too!

Knight 10-03-2006, 04:03 PM Has anyone looked at the link I posted above yet? I'm surprised that there haven't been more comments on it, it's gotta be one of the coolest project bikes ever!
ScottSellersUNR 10-03-2006, 09:16 PM just6 saw it, they are taken it down to the tiniest detail. I'll still take that facotry bike over it htough... the project duct will stay a twin.
I think i am more excited aobut the Aprilia 4 cylinder now... though it might fall short on looks
jeeps84 10-10-2006, 10:33 AM That's a great build. I wish I had time and money for a project like that.
bac1023 10-12-2006, 09:36 PM I've been looking at pics of that bike all summer. Amazing. I can't wait to read a test on that thing. I want to know weight and true RWHP.

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m95/markgraves138/smilies/Fthat.png I'd take a Duc over a gixxer any day of the week...even on Sunday. More class.
I'm pretty sure the Duc's front end is upwards of 8-10K.
marko138 10-19-2006, 05:39 AM I'm pretty sure the Duc's front end is upwards of 8-10K.
Yeah. About what a Gix 1k would cost you.
Yeah. About what a Gix 1k would cost you.
:withstupi And if you want to dump 15K to make it as good as the Duc, 1/2 that would just be the front end. It wouldn't happen with 15K. you're not going to get 200+ HP out of a GSXR for 15K. If you do, you wouldn't have $ to pimp the front end and brakes to handle all that power.

Stunt4Life 10-20-2006, 03:03 PM You could so easy get 200 hp out of it and still be n/a.
Cams, high comp, valves and springs, pipe, air filter, pc3 should do and that be less than 6k. Drop ohlins on it and some carbon fiber wheels on it.
milotupy 10-20-2006, 03:23 PM Hot off the presses!
I like it...because it a replica of Loris' bike however, I heard about 65k for this thing and that is never going to be worth it! Great bike, not a good buy!
rlsedition 10-26-2006, 08:30 AM I'm afraid this race rep is like a number of the expensive things in life - if you have to ask "how much?", you can't afford it. I'm sure most of the Ferrari customers pay cash for their purchase.
mitch_1100xx 10-26-2006, 09:02 AM its really nice. ide be afraid to ride somthing worth that though. the price tag is ridiculous, i mean it may be worth it but its still huge money.

ScottSellersUNR 10-28-2006, 09:06 PM it does sound incredible....
but ya id say 15K u could make any of the 1000's make 200 HP and still have money for the susepnsion work and even professional frame gusseting to give the maximum rigidity.
3,000$ for a 4lb boost turbo... no lag... 40HP.... and still be totally relaible on stock internals on that tiny of a boost. then all the bolt ones and superbike front end and all would leave ya enough room.
But it wouldnt sound that bad ass.... or get the booty off of the looks like the Duc....
Its like cars.. a WRX with 20K into it will kill a 80K Benz... but a girl will still give the guy in the Benz a road BJ while u drive home alone after stomping on his MB

:iagree: You could easily build a Jap to make those numbers and have all the right suspension parts for way less. In the end, all you would have is a bike with lots of wasted money invested that you likely would never see again.
Ducs like this are collectables and rarely would even be seen on the street but somebody will want it later and be willing to pay what ever it takes to get it.

Did you guys know that MV is putting out a bike similar to the Desmo? The Desmo is like 60K. The MV is going o be close to 200K. Fu*k that. It was in this months Cycle World. Just a short blurp on it. No big article.
ScottSellersUNR 01-19-2007, 01:32 AM thats insane...... But of all bikes.. the new V4 aprilia takes the cake for me. since it should be 30K or so./.. realisitc for most ppl who will sacrifice for a nice bike.. the 60K$ would never happen for me unless i sat on the couch for 2 years stragiht to save money a big enough down to afford the payments
byron12 01-19-2007, 08:23 AM Sixty k for a bike is just a little too much for me I think that having a bike like that probably means that for the most part the only people who will have them are rich posers who never ride them. there will be exceptions to that of course and I look foward to seeing them out there in the twisties. I do have a 205 million dollar lottery ticket so we'll see what happens...:luck:
ne1469 05-07-2007, 11:39 AM Whatever happened to this? all th raves on the Desmo & nowI dont even here a peep. :idk: All I keep hearing about are 1098's

My wife is named Alice. Maybe she'd be ok with me putting one of these in the garage, since it's named after her and all.
It's nice to dream.....
oldetymebiker 11-18-2007, 10:23 AM $72,000, includes three years of service......the tune up and service process starts with, "First, remove the motor from the frame......"
As far whether it is worth it...depends on how much descretionary income you have.....and how important the word "exclusive" is to you.............
ScottSellersUNR 11-18-2007, 10:26 AM i think they hype went away becasue there are simply so few, and its so so expensive your not going to see them at bike nights headed out hitting the corners with the ninjas and gixxers. Bout like the MV Agusta thats in that range and the Bimota's that were...ppl love them when they are announced, but you dont talk aobut what you never see. Outta sight outta mind.
** But i have to admit, when i saw it on display at MotoGP, i wanted to jump the ropes and make sweet love to it then and there...woulda been worth going to jail to leave my, uh, mark on it in history
Exile 11-18-2007, 09:03 PM Ehhh, We the people set the price, if no one would buy it for that much they would lower it.

In a way, that is what is striking, if not memorable about bikes rarely seen... forgotten, and then when seen...
