June 1st: Hurricane Season is here

Its the 5th season, HURRICANE SEASON. Lets be safe out there and lets be ready. So what hurricane preparations have you made? What lessons were learned from last year? Members and lurkers post up! I heard this on the news this evening. Then it rained here about a 1/2 hour ago. :doh:

In 1979, I stayed in Lafayette and New Iberia while I worked in the salt mines.

I just know enough to keep my butt out of any hurricane areas!

This might sound weird and sick, but I look forward to hurricane season. I am really interested in meteorology. I of course dont want them to land here in the US, or anywhere for that matter, but its an awesome phenomenon to me.

People down here are still able to get insurance but its mad expensive. the rates have gone up tremendously. Ive heard flood insurance is hard to come by.

One thing im getting this year that i should have had last, is a generator. I lost the contents of my fridge twice. What kind of generators do yall have? Im also getting more MRE's, those things are the best. And im setting my Fantacy football draft as early as possible. Katrina ruined my draft last year by knocking my power out for so long. :D

Gov. Jeb is pushing a bill for a 1 % surcharge to set up a disaster fund for hard hit areas like the Gulf coast where US 98 was washed away in some areas...

We made sure we got good coverage this year... and thats about it... I live a mile away from the ocean, and all that i have in front of my house in mangrove which is supposed to act as a protective barrier from storms, but Andrew proved us wrong back in 92.... fingers crossed, and I'm hoping we fare well this time around. Yeah. Be safe down there everyone. I've got a wedding planned on the Outer Banx of NC for the first week of Aug...crossing my fingers for no hurricane action. Not just then but the season...
