Just do like POD says... find a hill or a ditch! Then right in!

I use a hill, or a ditch, I use the ramp when needed. However Shan you could always use one of these....

My guess is... without knowing what size truck, or what size/type of bike you're trying to move.....The damage you will incur if you drop the thing on it's head will cost more than you would have paid to rent a trailer, or even a small van.

Alternatively, a chain block and tackle, a sufficiently high and secure lifting point, sufficiently long nylon straps (tiedowns work well) to lift from the wheels. Lift Bike, Secure lifting device, Move truck under bike!

Just buy or build a ramp. Its the safest. I guaranty that you will get use out of it later as well.

You still are a poor hillbilly bro - just with a better haircut and a good looking woman.. you must be hung like a horse or something..

Shan - find a hill that is level with the bed of the truck, lower the gate, back up to it and load the bike. I have done it plenty of times. Piece of cake unless you smoke massive amounts of crack cocaine.

If all that fails cruise around the local Mall, department stores, grocery stores, Wal-Marts... they usually have loading docks of various sizes for semi trucks, panel trucks and vans. Almost all of them have ramps that lead up to them for hand cart useage. You can either drive your bike up the handcart side and over the dock to the loading platform that best suits your truck or back your truck up to the handcart ramp and use it.
I used the one at Fiesta Mall years ago. Almost dropped my bike into the dock so be careful. In fact, forget what I said because it sound way too stupid. (I'll leave it up here just in case you decide to eat a bowl of dumbsh@t for breakfast. Just don't let anyone else know.) shhhhhh

hmm ok...how do you get the bike and the truck up to the local walmart, mall or what ever at the same time?? Unless someone follows you up there...that's not going to work. Shan just buy a ramp and a used trailor the most you'll spend if you go cheap is $400 or so maybe cheaper.

I didn't want to bring up the obvious... Sure, we'll pile all the kids in the truck and make a family outing of it.

oh, wait, a good rope tied to your bike, throw the rope over a tree and pull.

I like the spinach idea the most. If you are doing this yourself, without help of any kind, get a bike trailer as mentioned in the U-haul/Home depot suggestions. Everything else is a headache unless you are used to loading your bike by yourself with a ramp. With all the suggestions floating around here, I am surprised someone has not shown up to lend you a hand by now.
Helluva trek for me to do it. I could be tempted. Got cold beer?
