Venting Session

Guys

I got my gix about 5 months ago and all of a sudden all is going wrong. The folks I got it from stored it for 2 years with out potection. Needless to say tank got rusted inside now it has contaminated my fuel system. Dealer raped me for 300 + to clean tank and injectors after the bike broke down. They mentioned the fuel pump was bas so I picked up the bike and ordered a pump from a friend. The bike was running before touching it,so tonight all happy I replace my pump, and bam neither pump work the CPU said error code 43= fuel pump relay... maybee I am drouning my self in a cup of water here but my Kat never broke down. Maybee upgrade was a bad idea WTF I am tierd Pissed and thinking of selling the bike.

The old pump was running fine, I was going to change it because the dealer said that it will need to be replaced. I called a guy that had one for a 2002, now mind you I got a 2001. Here is his site: www.spiderracing.com

I called him on Sat and asked do you have a pump, he said yes for a 2002 and they are backward compatible. Well, that was not true, when I connect his pump it blows the fuse, and the pump has an extra wire. So far I left my old one on the bike and it is running fine... I paid 200 bucks for the pump.

So i called him last night and explained to him I was going to send back for refund, it seems like he does not want me to send back for refund he gave me the We will check out the pump... I am not pissed since if he does not do it I will issue a charge back to get my $ back.

I can believe this, he gave me the wrong info... and does not want to give me my $ back.

I saw this post over KR as well...it really blows. I would assume the fuel pump would need to be replaced as well, but the only reason I could think of, if the dealer wouldnt take it back, was if it was used in the first place.

it's really all in how you take care of the bike. Kats do seem to be pretty bullet proof overall, and very reliable, but if left to sit for an extended period of time, like this poor gixxer was, many similar things would most likely happen as well. You always second guess yourself when you make a change and something goes wrong. dont give up just yet..

Here is the skinny...

I shipped the pump to the guy, UPS Next day insured and all, like promissed. Well I called him today, and he said he would test it tonight and if all went well that he would have to charge me a 20% restocking fee. Why would I have to be charged a restocking fee for the wrong part? WTF is wrong with people? I give up, seriously. One day I asked my step dad why was he so short and not nice with people and he said to me tired of being mr nice guy and getting FU@#$#. Well I gotta say I am sick and tired of situations like this, I tryied to be mr nice guy, I will issue a charge back.

if he sent you the wrong part, and doesnt wanna admit error, he's just trying to cover his arse and get something out of you for his trouble...IMO...
