How dumb is your state?
Quote:
States Ranked: Smartest to Dumbest
The smartest state in the union for the second consecutive year is Massachusetts.
The dumbest, for the third year in a row, is New Mexico.
These are the findings of the Education State Rankings, a survey by Morgan Quitno Press of hundreds of public school systems in all 50 states. States were graded on a variety of factors based on how they compare to the national average. These included such positive attributes as per-pupil expenditures, public high school graduation rates, average class size, student reading and math proficiency, and pupil-teacher ratios. States received negative points for high drop-out rates and physical violence.
How does YOUR state rank?
1. Massachusetts
2. Connecticut

I am utterly shocked at the ranking for Indiana. People here are sooooo incredibly dumb, I'm blown away that 32 other states are dumber (at least measured by school performance).
That's a cool article, thanks!

Um yeah sure Becca. I am sure that the Canadians will be coming over to take over any minute now................................... Have you not ever been to Windsor? If Canada took over Detroit then Michigan would go from 31 to say 51 out of 50.
Of course you know Michigan was dead last except for the fact that Mudpuppy and his mignons, i.e. my two daughters, are here to bring the average up.
I can say Michigan is pretty dumb though - look 51% voted for Kerry! DOH!

And we should be quite proud of the fact the SEC sticks together in the bottom half of the list!!! Now only if that SEC wannabe team the Sooners would join a REAL conference they could stay where they are now...in the middle...
Whew!! I can feel the flames already

Bush actually one York,PA (my town) big time, but the big cities of Pittsburgh and Philly just had too much of a democratic population and over took us.
It's all philadephia's fault, they make PA look bad, that dirty arse city!!
but seriously though, it's still amazing that when I drive by in the city all the time, and see the people of my town and the other big cities in PA..how in the world we are near the top is beyond me..
