Last time down on the street

June of 2003 had one of those motor skate boards cut right in front of me driving my BMW F650GS at 30 MPH
Knocked my bike over which landed full force on my left knee, after the bounce, slid about 100ft down the roadway. Lucky for me I did wear full leathers, suffered no road rash. But my left knee and upper leg was numb, no feeling. Went to ER no major damage Year later leg is normal and about 95% feeling has come back to left knee.
At time of accident kid who hit me looked to have broken shoulder. After I got up and turned off my bike, kid took off At the time I was pissed, but later on I am glad he did take off for legal reasons.
Police wrote up accident as hit and run.
Sometimes bad things happen for a good reason, rehab on my knee put me back in the gym Been working out for the last 8 months 5 days a week

Wow, I had no idea. Inicidents like that only prove that you can be alert and paying attention and still get in a wreck. You're only part of the equation out on the road, it's the other part of that equation that you have no control over that is concerning.

Did you ever find out who the kid was?

Wow..that really sux...and people say motorcyclists dont pay attention!!! :ack: ...glad things pretty much back to normal for you..you can always repair a bike, but repairing the person can be a much longer, more difficult task...makes all those hot sweaty days in full gear, well worth it huh!!! :bike:

Never did find out who the kid was Happend in Oakland Ca Police did not put very high priority on it.
Roadway was long straightway two lanes each way, me in left lane, kid was in far right lane near side walk. Kid decided to cut accross roadway without even looking in my direction.
Happened so quick I did not even have chance to hit brakes.

Sorry to hear you were injured, glad you're OK now.

The last time I was down, I got T-boned at 16th and South Van Ness in SF, making a left turn with my view partly blocked by a large truck. Two broken ribs, $9,000 damage to the bike. All's well now.

what healed quicker, you or the bike ?

i lost my first TL to some puck azz kid not paying attention i'm lucky to be alive. i was crusin down mclintock and this guy decides to make his own crosswalk my bike wound up smashed in a brick wall and i hit the curb
