Just another daily commute

On my way home from work today, I joined up with a group of riders. One was setup for stunt with the crash bars. I was riding in front and was admiring the stunter sitting on his gas tank while he passed me by on one wheel. I was doing 70 mph. Then the pack hit warp speed but I kept my speed to watch them all go by. The last person didn't make the high speed turn and I watched him ride over the shoulder into the grass medium (it dipped and raised) and up he goes over the other incomming lane.

He went airborn. I saw him cartwheel in the air with his bike then lost site of him in a dust cloud. There was no traffic. The others realized one was missing and also saw the dust cloud in their rear mirrors. They all made a u-turn through the medium and stopped at the scene. I also followed and was ready to help. But... the injured rider grabbed his tail section that held his license plate, jumped passenger on the stunt rider's bike and they all took off.

I was left there with a thrashed r6 wondering if the bike was stolen. The injured rider had blood running down his forehead. All the riders had helmets with jeans and t shirts.

Ahhh, brings back memories...

so they just left the 6r sitting there on the side of the road? I'm sure there's some good parts left on it to part out on ebay!

And people wonder why the Floridians are a laughing stock at the gap.

don't mean to offend you Florida people, but it is a very common thing for Florida stunters to show up at the gap and proceed to make their bikes fly off the side of the mountain. Just ask R1 how many he saw from florida on the side of the road after a drop.

Back to the topic, that is odd as hell man. You should of grabbed some parts though.

I stopped by the accident scene this morning. the bike was gone. I figure the cops hauled it away. The bike damage was severe. Front end crushed, front wheel bent, body damaged all over. You can tell it cart wheeled a few times. When I saw it last, it laid 4 ft in front of a telephone pole. I wonder if the rider hit it.

The rider was very young. About high school age. I commute that high speed corner everyday. His mistake was starting his turn from the outside and not counter steering the hell out of it. He most likely stood it up as soon as he hit the shoulder. I would estimate his speed at around 120 mph when he went off the road. I know he'd be DOA without that helmet.

I was going to go back yesterday with my trailer. But like I mentioned, I think the bike was stolen. I wouldn't want to be caught hauling a stolen bike in the open highway.
