was wondering if any women here have ridden both these bikes and which they prefer?

:welcome: to the board first off!

I have ridden the ninja MANY times. It is a good starter bike and great for stunting (if you wanna stunt it). My neighbor next door to me has a ninja 250 that he lets me ride (he likes to see me stunt it since he cant). This little bike has some get up and go to it and is extremely light also (at least to me..but i'm used to handling the zx-14)

I haven't ever been on but I really like my Blast. It's a more standard bike rather than sporty so it's very comfortable and confidence inspiring. And still I have no problem having fun in the twisties!

They're both good bikes, but very different. :2cents:

That comes off, I know this because the previous owner took it off my bike and it had already faded so you can still see where the damn thing was :cursin:

I have to replace that part anyways though.

get the blast, be different. :dthumb:
:withstupi Personally, I've owned my blast a few months and I'm already antsy to move up but it's also not my first bike and even though I'd like to move up, the blast is a great bike and worth it's price (which is suprisingly low).

I would try riding both of the bikes if you can and deciding from there because since the bikes utilize different engine designs they ride very differently.

Ninja

I just got a 2007 Ninja (hope to post pics soon). It's my first bike and I am slowly learning the handling, braking, etc... I got it because of lower cost and lighter weight.

So I guess it's up to your budget and what you can handle. THe Ninja is lighter, less expensive and has a higher seat height (which can be lowered).

The Blast - heavier, cost more, but larger engine and lower seat height. In fact, both stock heights are lower than the Ninja.

Sit on them both and see how each bike "fits" you.

LOVE the ninja

I just joined myself. I have a ninja zx6r that I absolutely LOVE. I've never been on a blast but I would sit on both and go from there. See which one can be lowered enough to be comfortable and safe for you and see which one is more YOU, personality wise. You'll know what I mean once you start lookin for real.
good luck and have fun with your new bike, whichever one you end up with.

Your ninja, the ZX6r, is NOTHING like the ninja 250 they are considering... it's a full out supersport bike. The ninja 250 is an entry level sport bike and has almost nothing in common with yours. Not sure if that's what you were implying though.

I'm short, 5'2, and I have a Blast with the low profile seat, and it's low enough that I have never been scared that I could fall over, I'm totally stable on it. I sat on a Ninja 250 a couple days ago and could barely touch the ground. I asked the sales guys what could be done, and for about 600 you can get it lowered by an inch or two. For me, that's not nearly enough. I have accepted the fact that I can not ride sport bikes because of the height.

A friend's wife started riding a Gs450 a year and a half ago...same height as you...went to a Duc Monster 750 w a lowering link (about 80 bucks). She also started racing YSR50's at Beaverrun in Ohio this year and is leading the series by 90 points (beating her husband who has been racing for years). I rode with them back in June, and she sets a healthy pace. You do not have to limit yourself. Careful selection and a few mods and you too can sportbike it. May I suggest that you may want to look at the older ZX7R's and ZX9R's. Kirsten (the young lady I mentioned) rode mine with no mods, and said that if she lowered it a 1/2 inch she could flat foot it. Excellent examples abound.

Photo below shows her at the last race she won....

A blast came to a stop at a stop sign out on the street where i live. A john deere riding mower was mowing the grass not to far away. I SWEAR the blast sounded EXACTLY the same as that lawn mower when it rode if. I wouldnt be caught dead riding that thing. Im not joking about this at all but it is funny. I seriously couldnt tell the difference.

Hahaha. True. I blame Harley for that.

Melina, I'm 5'3" and have a blast also. I like it because it's small but I think that if you wanted to move up to something else you could do it. Eventually, you will get used to not much of your foot on the ground. At least, this is how I am on my dirt bikes (they are much taller than sport bikes for the most part). You can lower bikes for a decent price sometimes, I'm assuming the dealer told you it would be 600 dollars because that seems crazy to me. Let me know if you have any questions about that since I am kind of in the same position as you I would be happy to tell you what I know.
