Helmet??

So in August when I go to see play and I go riding with him I need to get me a helmet. My Head is 21 inches in diameter(53 cm)( I wear a youth size baseball cap) So I need some help on what yall wear and if anyone has a small head like me?
Like the difference between a Small and an Extra Small?

Hey Twinkies,

I have a pretty small head too, and the sizing really depends on the brand of the helmet. I wear an XS in HJC, but I tried on a S Scorpion and it was perfectly snug. The Z1r that I have is a small and it has room. I'd say you should try on whatever you plan to purchase, because it seems to run differently across brands, and sometimes those internet measuring guidelines aren't entirely true to size. And I don't think you will have a problem finding one that fits, it just depends on the brand which size you'll wear.

you REALLY must try them on. A brainbucket is the one thing you want to make sure fits right.

with diamond about the HCs too... HJCs run big, I've found... I wear a large HC but normally wear an XL in most brands

And it's not just the SIZE, but the SHAPE of the helmet. Different brands are shaped differently (i.e. some will fit a long, narrow head better, others are suited to a rounder, fuller head). And then some helmets offer different thickness cheekpads (thinner, medium, thicker) to get a more custom fit.

Try on everything you can get your hands on, and do so with a trained professional there to assist you.

Certain brands/models don't fit me no matter what size I get...

Yup, same here. I wanted that Shoei Diabolic 3 SOOOO badly... but it just isn't meant for my squash. On the other hand, Arai RX-7s and Suomys fit me perfectly.

This is the only way.
It is amazing how different an XS can fit from each Manufacturer.
Also I was suprised at how heavy some helmets were.

Not only do brands fit different, but in the same brand one style might fit while another style won't (shaped different). My Z1R is the same size as my Arai if that helps at all.

Fitting the helmet to the head is the utmost important thing. My wife has a Shark helmet and she loves it. Of coarse she also has a half helmet but we won't talk about that.

Also a thread on it here!

I'm sooo in love with a couple of the Sharks... and they fit me really nicely...but so few people I know have them, I haven't heard much feedback on them. Good to hear she loves hers.

AGV helmets run small...try them on too!!! I tried em all, they are all pretty different...I love my AGV though. Ya' know helmets are like women, you have to put your head in a lot of them before you know which one you really want to keep putting your head in...
