Please Help!!!

So my significant other 5'10 100lbs(toothpick) took the course last summer and aced it, and now thinks she needs a 6 thats no more than two years old as her 1st bike!!! Ive tryed to explain to her that no one starts out like that and even told her id buy her a newer 250 or even a 94 katana 6 (i know not the best idea) then even help with the purchase of the new one once she got good as well as maintnance! but she wont ride any of them cause there not cute enough or look like b!*@h bikes! she works at the ER and knows what bikes can do to you and was almost scared off by that.

But she thinks im being unsuportive and labeling her as a blonde on a chick bike who cant ride with the men. I feel no such way and have seen some amazing female riders!

~How can i get through to her??
~Have any of you actualy started off this way and did it work out??

Have her read this:

https://www.twowheelforum.com/showthread.php?t=22871

and this...

https://www.twowheelforum.com/showthread.php?t=8559

and introduce her to the site. This is one of THE places to be for new and experienced riders alike.

I have a couple that are very close friends up in Pittsburg: he's been riding and racing for years, she's just finished her second season. She started on a 400 Honda (early 80's) dropped it a couple of times, got pretty good at it. and then bought a Duc Monster 620 this spring. She can now run circles around most of the guys she rides with (she's about the same size as your SO). Ya gotta tell her that it's the rider, not the bike that is important.

After you have her read the stuff OTB suggested, have her look at the 08 ninja 250. I know, you don't want to start her on a new bike. But... it's a 250, and it looks like the "big bikes"
That thing will resell EASY too i'm sure.

Yeah, well she went down to the races in NC last weekend and sum dumb a$$ friend of her older sisters let her ride his ninja 1 around the block, and even though she babyd it she says that since she could ride it she knows she'll be alright on a 6! BS

I showed her the 08 ninjette and she says she'll never ride a b!%&h bike!

Im so frustrated by this i want to just throw her the keys to a damn busa and tell her to keep up as i take off riding at my limit till she busts her face!!!! But I cant do that so im trying my hardest to just keep preachin it,
She read the first formentioned post and said she understood and didnt need to read the other two so she'd settle with an older 6 but it had to be gsxr! I dont understand how to get it to her!!

I learned to ride on my 1200 Sporty.I bought the bike first and only practiced on it twice before I took the safety course.I had been riding the Sporty for 5 years before I bought my CBR.I couldnt imagine starting out with the CBR.Tell her that just because she passed the safety course doesnt mean that she can just hop on what ever bike is hot.Confidence is one thing, cockiness is a whole different story. It takes a lot of practice to be a good rider. Not just rippin thru curves but knowing what to do when that deer jumps out of no where.I think there is nothing wrong with starting out small and workin your way up.Even the best riders crash sometimes.

like OTB mentioned, it's the rider and not the bike...
not all 600's are the same. let her buy her own bike.

Be brutally honest with her and tell her to stop acting like a damn squid, and that you care for her welfare not to mention her riding skills development, otherwise you'd give her the Hayabusa to ride. Have her come to the forum to chat with the female riders here. IF that doesn't cure her, then oh well, she's a big girl.

Tell her to buy her own D$*n bike then. I rode for 2 years with a permit on a 82 cruiser that was 10 times my weight. I knew how to ride. However i was going to get a streetbike and riding that compared to the cruiser I knew I could go out and be stupid about these things which no offense to your GF sounds like she's been. Tell her that a ninjette is NOT A B!%&h bike. I happen to ride one thank you very much. However it from her discription of the bitch it would fit her to a tee. I am the same build and about 40 lbs heavier than her. My bf has an SV650 and that was alot of bike to try and handle. More or less, she's not using her head on this and we do NOT need another one of those on the street its scary enough riding out there without overconfident idiots. Sorry but it really sounds like she's being unreasonable.

Um, she sounds totally unreasonable and like a total poser. No offense, but it doesnt sound like she wants to ride for the sheer joy of riding, merely that she wants to look like a total bad a$$ biker chick.

You might want to point out that while any chick on a bike is hawt, if she wants the respect of her fellow RIDERS (cuz she appears to be very concerned about image), male and female alike, she needs to be smart about this.

I dont know bout the other ladies, but I laugh my a$$ off every time some lil new chick shows up on the scene on a brand new bike, 600 or bigger, and her cute lil thong and wants to prance around talking bout how fast her bike can go (not her, the bike), blah blah yadda yadda...and there is zero respect for that kinda crap. I know first hand that there is no way she is going to ride that bike to the best of her abilities, nor will she learn valuable skills she needs, cuz she'll be too busy trying to just control the bike. And in the end, something will happen, she'll scare herself, or get hurt, and never ride again. I see it all the time...

I started on a CBR, it was too big, I bought a brand new ugly a$$ ninja 250, rode the wheels off it to get some skills, then started really riding my CBR. I appreciate every day I had my ninja and wish I still had it to play on and continue improving my skills with it. It've made a killer track toy!

Sucks that she's being unreasonable but on the plus side she's taken the msf course which is more than "posers" do. I don't see much of a problem with an older 6 for her as she's got the height and some basic skills. And to answer your 2nd question - yes I started that way (with less acutally) and worked out great for me - but again depends on the rider.

I had never ridden a street bike before, went to the dealership with the bf at the time and bought a brand new f4 with 1 mile on it. Trailered it home and he taught me in the school parking lot, never even took the msf. (I dont recommend this and would do it differently by taking the msf first) but I'm glad I had my 6, did well and rode her hard for the years I had her.

YAEE!! I finaly got through to her!! I emailed her a picture of the new 250 with the yosh pipe!!<<(that i found on twf) and she bit hard as hell! she said it was so cute and she'd love it! so im gona get a hell of a deal on my gixer 7 when she buys that at the same time!!!

Yeah she is damn near poser status, but its just being to damn cocky n picky!! thats how she is about everything! she drives a 02 eclipse with garret turbo and pink mitsubiti stickers on the back side windows and sun roof and konig 18's and even though she dont take it for an oil change even without me yelling about it atleast twice, she keep it clean!

So i can only immagin how fun its going to be maintaining my bike and one i dont even ride!

Hey, i've never riden a 250, how is it? much lighter? can u get it up? top speed? I'll have to play with it every once in a wile to check on it!
