"ARE YOU READY BOOTS" 2006 MotoGP [results and discussion]

This may be a mid season start, but i think a dedicated thread for the 06 seasons results may help streamline things. If anything else, it'll make it easier to follow results and organize the motoGP discussion thats here and there in every other thread.

-How about a midseason primer-

Nicky Hayden leads the championship winning one race [Assen]. But consistently getting podiums (7 of 8 races) lets him sit 42 points up on 2nd place entering the English weekend at Donington Park.

Despite early season problems with the M1, and getting a DNF in LeMans, Valentino Rossi worked his way to 4th in the standings with three wins. 2 in the last 3 weekends. Rossi injured his ankle and wrist during an Assen practice but will race in England.

2nd place Pedrosa won in China, and 3rd place Loris Capirossi has a win in Spain. rounding out the top five is Marco Melandri with 2 race wins. (france and Turkey)

Championship Points
1 Nicky Hayden 144
2 Dani Pedrosa 102
3 Loris Capirossi 100
4 Valentino Rossi 98
5 Marco Melandri 98
6 Casey Stoner 78
7 Colin Edwards 63
8 Shinya Nakano 57
9 Kenny Roberts Jr. 55
10 Makoto Tamada 54

It was hard to see colin go down. He finally put in a complete race, and kept the bike up front but couldnt finish. Im suprised the bike still ran after it ghost rode into the wall, still he was able to pick it up and finish. I cant say i didnt want nicky to win that battle though. An american champion?... Im rooting for it fo sho.

Pedrosa checks out, the doctor is IN!

-Donnington Park MotoGP RESULTS-

Polesitter Dany Pedrosa ran away with the win but not without early drama. Melandri took the holeshot and in an effort to pass, Pedrosa has a quick run off the track. Recovering in 3rd and later passing Melandri, the rookie GP rider left the battle for second and third to melandri, KR, hopkins, and stoner. The big excitement was on its way as an injured wrist "not 100% but better pain" Rossi would make his way from a 15th place start to catch the podium battle. Hopkins, KR, and stoner couldnt keep pace and that left Velentino Rossi and Marco Melandri. On the last lap Marco dipped under VR for 2nd but would run it wide in the next turn to give it back and thats how they finished. Points leader Nicky Hayden, who couldnt get confortable all weekend, had a run off early and worked to a 7th place retaining his CPoints lead over Pedrosa.

2006 Moto Gp

Didn't get a chance to see the races, but Valentino is only 35 points behind Nicky. I will be @ Laguna Seca to see the Doctor rip up the track and continue his quest for another championship MOTO GP style.

Rossi wins in fight to the end

-Sachenring MotoGP RESULTS-

Its not the first time Valentino has come from behind-thru traffic to the front, but at a track where he has seriously struggeled all weekend, doing it today was especially amazing. The first 1/3 of the race saw Nicky Hayden overtake Dani Pedrosa with Tamada, KR, and Melandri in tow. An 11th lap lowside by KR took out Tamadas best shot at a podium this year, knocking him down and into the gravel. Now Rossi, Dani, Marco, and Nicky were left to exchange passes and blocks for the remainder of the 30 laps till late when Dani ran wide giving 3rd to Nicky and Rossi passed Marco for the last time to take the win.

1 Valentino Rossi Camel Yamaha Team Yamaha YZR-M1 41:59.248
2 Marco Melandri Fortuna Honda Honda RC211V 41:59.393
3 Nicky Hayden Repsol Honda Team Honda RC211V 41:59.514
4 Dani Pedrosa Repsol Honda Team Honda RC211V 41:59.555
