R6 more speed?

Hey all.. I have been riding since I was 14 started out racing dirtbikes when I got older started riding sport bikes.. mostly cbr I took about 3 years off from riding bought a new 2006 YZF R6 this year been riding it all year long got pretty comfortable again and started racing it.. legal street racing.. in stock class.. anyway.. Im wondering what I can do to get more speed out of it.. It is great in the low.. mid it gets iffy and top its very slow to pick up.. the bike is fats and does well but I want to pick up a lil more through mid .. maybe some top.. everyone keeps telling me get a turbo.. I will be riding in modified restricted then.. but I'm just curious what you all think as far as getting more mid.. and maybe some top

Change out your sprockets to get more acceleration. Are we talking 1/4 mile or what? If it's the track, you won't hit your top speed anyway and the gear change would work out fine. What performance mods have you done? I recommend a full system, air filter and a dyno tuned power commander for starters. That will get you around 117 hp at the wheel. This is if we're talking about the new R6 and not a R6S.

Well from listening to Twisty, a privateer racer, the best thing to make your R6 faster on the road track is to sell it and get a CBR RR. That's what he did! The R6 always gets spanked on the straights!

Dlit... don't come after me... I'm just repeating what I have heard!

it's all good. My buddy has a '06 CBR RR. I pull from him on straights. I'm lighter than he is though. But he just got a Yosh slip-on and an air filter. I'm still pulling. I can respect what Twisty says. I can also doubt it though.

Yeah like I said... that's why he got rid of his R6 and went to the RR. Of coarse he had it re-geared for the tight n twisty which I'm sure effected his top end... I guess he couldn't find both on the R6 but could with the RR.

Maybe Pippi can stop in and tell us more.

With the right mods, any bike can be like that. Newer 600 that is. I highlky doubt he's rodd ehte new R6 too. Big changes in it from the year he had and '06.

No no no....changing the sprocket will get you less top end and more low/mid.

That's only if you go up on the teeth.

Keep the bike in high RPM's if you want more speed in turns. Keep it in its sweet spot. Right around 10K RPM's.

I dropped a tooth on mine and didnt loose any top speed, actually gaind some the only way you would loose is if your bike hits the reline in 6th gear.
