I want my...Nicky?

I want my MTV!
From MCnews Austrailia

After over 8 months in planning, pre-production and creating the eventual Pilot, MTV focus groups gave the go ahead to the new MotoGP series ‘The Kentucky Kid” . Production will commence immediately with an 8 part series planned to be aired late in the 2007 season. It is hoped that this new series will bring MotoGP to the mainstream within the USA.

The idea originally conceived by Anthony Gordon of Nothin But Shorts International and Phil Baker, Nicky’s Manager at International Racers in Irvine California has finally come to fruition. The pilot is said to be a first for MotoGP in the USA.

Hm, that's weird. I haven't seen that on any of the US motorcycle news sites.

S pose to!!! Who knows with these crazy industry types...

I won't watch it unless it hits a good time slot (for me) the rest of my TV time is for the actual races or the history/military channels. Dogfights, Unsolved History, Battlefield Detectives, that sort of thing.

ive seen i reported on spanish, aus, and UK sites. Nicky was hesitant to do it, but he talked it over with his dad and figured that if anything, it will raise the profile of the sport in the US. so he said go.

ya so you mean when they break from commercials we'll actually get to watch a minute or two of racing? or will it be the stupid dramatic behind the scenes crap MTV is so good at producing.

That pretty much sums it up. Whether or not there is a TV show you're always gonna have jackoffs who buy a bike to impress their homo boyfriends. They give up after a while and here we are...still standing.

That was my initial gut reaction too, but maybe we can count on Nicky to provide a constent voice of reason...

i dont doubt he will, i know he wasnt thrilled to pieces about it, but wanted to raise motogps (& bike racing in general) profile in the US.

But the medium (mtv) is a dangerous one. It will just hurt if celeb/gossip culture snobs lasso him into that puke category of all puke catagories.... POP ICON. The first teeney bopper i see with a nicky shirt i will strangle. but we will see where this goes. I hope nicky is represented well.

Yeah, it's all about representation. I hate MTV, but would tune in just to watch MTV fu*k up Nicky's rep. I hope they don't. Squids will be on the rise. I would rather see that show on SPEED or Discovery.
