Is it possible to overdo the counter-steering?

I know that at high speeds you have to counter-steer in order to initiate a turn. So I was just wondering is it possible to counter-steer too much? Does the traction reduce because of the strange position of the wheels? Is counter-steering dangerous on wet roads?
Thanks to everybody who replies.
