RC 51 Question.

I am noticing that pics I've seen of various RC 51's don't have passengers seats. Is there any year of the 51 that does have a rear seat? I'm guessing no...being a 'race bike' and all.

Good question. I was actually at the track looking at my friends buddy's 51 and wondering how a seat would mount on there. Maybe there's a kit or something. I actually have a clip of my buddy following that dude on his 51 at the track. i still gotta get it on the web.

I had an 00" RC 51 and it didn't have a rear seat. I did have the Canaden model though and they do not come with rear pegsa or rear seat mounts. I think the US version does come with the cowl and a seat, like most bikes. It's really a small pad. Most people just chose not to put the seat on. This was mine old one.

The US RC51 comes with the standard (mostly seen) cowl cover... and that is small... its more like a piece of plastic that fits into the rear cowl opening. That's why it looks like there could never be a seat.

However, there is a seat that fits in there... it or the cowl is only like 5" wide by like 7" long. To say its small is a understatement. PUN intended!

After reading JLB's posts I did some more research. I noticed that they have passenger pegs and if you look real hard, like GM is saying, there is a spot for a seat. Tiny tiny tiny seat. Probly not worth the money it costs to make it. But...it is a rear seat so that puts it back on the list of potential twins.

I'll have me another one in about 1-2 years . They are way to beautiful not to have one just to ride when you want to feel the V-twin.

Just like the Gixxers except the Gixxers have a decent passenger seat.
