Speculation?

I have a suspicion that Honda is going to totally redesign the CBR 1000RR for 2008. I've noticed in the past that when they are putting out a "totally new" bike, they don't seem to promote the current model. There are still corporate ads concerning the 2006 and little or no fanfare for the '07. Maybe just wild speculation , but what do you Honda guys think?....Although no one knows a %$#@ thing at this point, it's still fun to think on it.

2005 GIXXER 1K and 2008 ZX 10R.

The current RR design is due a complete makeover. Not just tweaks and peaks.

Just tweaks and peaks mostly. They call that all new sometimes.

What more can they do to the 1000? I want to see a CBR 1500 to take over from the Blackbird, or a VFR 1500.

Honda already has a (sport) touring bike, the ST1300, that looks like a Wing and weighs over 700 pounds. Kawasaki's putting the 1400 Ninja engine in a Concours chassis. Why can't Honda? They could put that 1300 V-4 into a sporty frame, but wouldn't it be easier for them to make a CBR or VFR into a monster motor?

It seems quite easy for the manufacturers to make a sport bike into a sport/tourer. Can't they do it without adding 200 pounds? Honda makes the ST1300 for riders who want to cruise the Interstates without being on a massive Wing. I want to ride for hours on tight, twisty roads, be relaxed when I stop, and pull a dozen cold bottles of water from my saddlebags and pass them to the all the Gixxer riders I passed on the way there. Is that so hard for Honda to do?

No not hard at all, but is there really a market for a bike like that?

When Yamaha came out with the only sporty, sport/touring rig, the FJ1300R, there was a waiting list to get one. If Kawasaki does the 1400 Councours right, Honda and Suzuki will join in. Suzuki can just ease the Busa into sport/touring duty, but Honda used to be the innovator.

Cbr1500rr!!!???

That would be sick!!!! Could you imagine.. Twisting on a back road. Honda just doesn't seem to have the ba$$$s to move up to the bigger engines.

If they made a bike that bike it wouldn't be an RR...and it wouldn't be jockeying a backroad quite like a 600 would.

Yeah, Honda seems to change up the CBR line every two years. They alternate years, last year it was the new 1000RR, this year it's the new 600RR. I'm sure Honda will have something new for '08, but I'm guessing it will still be a 1000cc bike as that is the current class restrictions for AMA and WSBK.
