Question about the F4i dash lights........

Hey there,

I have a question about the F4i dash. When you turn the key to the 'on' position, the tacho does it's sweep and the speedo does it's countdown. A host of other lights also illuminate momentarily at this time, including an orange LED located all by itself to the right of the tacho.

What does this LED actually do/what is it's function?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Sime

I beleive that would be your rev limiter led. It will flash when you hit red-line or miss a shift.

rev limiter light

That amber light is your rev limiter reminding you that you could have blown up your motor.

Uhhhhh...that explains it then.

Well I guess that the redline is somewhere in the 16500rpm stratosphere, and since my bike is a 900RR (945cc) and redlines at about 12,000, I guess I'll never see that light.

No drama. Thanks for answering my question!

Cheers!

LOL its hard to do to a f4i, i run my f4i stunter off the limiter in coasters and burnouts everytime i ride it, usually everynight in summer.

Still on same motor since 01. Not saying its not possible but i've been giving it my best shot w/ no luck, only thing i've had to do to motor is put manual tensioner in. I love my f4i
