1996 cbr 600 F3

So I'm looking to help get my best friend a bike so we can both go riding. Just got a call from a girl from school that said her dad is selling a 96 cbr 600 in good condition for 2500. She didn't know the miles yet but gave me the number to call when he gets done playing golf. Now im not familiar at all with the F3 models. Just looking for some of you guys to chime in on 1) how they handle. 2) are they pretty quick for an older carb'd bike? 3) what kind of miles do you see out of these motors on average before you start to looking to rebuild. Any other thoughts or opinions would be great to!

he's been on my new bike a few times (03 636). So I personally feel he would be just fine on a new I4 he's just limited on money is the problem so I found this bike for him and just trying to determine the reliability/ability of this bike

the cbr is the best all round SB in its class, and has been for over a decade. its plenty fast enuff and faster with a few minor mods. They look better n better with each new model, search the forum for posted pix, a few F3's on here and other cbr's, even one with a 600rr tail on it.

my f3 is wonderful. runs great, quick as hell, comfy, and looks good. definatly a good price at 2500 as well.

summed up in a few words. reliable as gravity, and then some. CBR600's are tough bikes and built well. if you change the oil when you're supposed to, keep it clean and take good care of it, you'll likely see 200k or better from the bike before you're considering rebuilding. the cam chain tensioner might start to rattle, but thats the ONLY flaw I've heard of on a CBR. its easily fixed with a manual one too.
