new bike...hopefully

I'm looking at getting a 2005 CBR600RR, its brand new and is from a dealer. They are asking $7k out the door for it. Which is a problem for me seeing as I can't afford that. My question is do you all think that I will be able to get it for something closer to $5k (basically just less than 6k). I looked up the KBB value and retail was about $6,500 and trade in was about $4,500. I can't go up there for a couple days so thought i would see if you guys/girls think it is reasonable to expect that much of a price drop. It does have a couple nicks and a tear on the rear seat, supposedly from shipping but other than that it looks good.

Hell ya, read oldtymebikers threads on negotiating and be confident. The bikes been sitting there for almost 3 years, they can't expect to mark it up that much WITH faults such as scratches.
Get an exact number of what you can afford and offer it..3 times. Then walk if they say no.

especially if yur in no rush, offer what YOU want to pay.
they're just losing money on the bike if it's been sittin'
there that long.

Be willing to walk away from the deal - that's what gives you the power to get the price you want.

Inspect the bike THOROUGHLY. Every nook and cranny - use a flashlight. Don't be afraid to inspect it for an hour if that's what it takes. Look at fork seals, engine block, everything. Look for fluid leaks!

I'd inspect it one day, get quotes for repairs- from the dealer and another shop at least. The come back and tell them you'll pay whatever price minus what it will take to fix everything.
