Earth quakes

I swear we just had an earth quake here in the mountains of NC. It may have only been thunder but, it sure shuck my house and didn't sound like any I had heard or felt before. Plus there isn't a cloud in the sky or any storms predicted.

I went through a 4.0 in Puerto Rico. I was so happy I went to the head geologist at the University and he pinpointed the location of the fault for me. Check out this site for latest earthquakes: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/regional/...earthquake.php

Thanks for the link NW. I was trying to find one that specific.
According to their site, Nothing updated yet. I'm still not sure if it was but others I have talked to (6 to 10 miles away) seemed to think it was too. People I called (20+ miles away) said the heard and felt nothing.

I have felt them here before, not very big mind you. Went through several bad ones when I lived in Alaska. Earthquakes suck.

Yea, we have'em ever so often. Most are so slight that I never new about them till I saw it on the news. The one in question, I'm still awaiting conformation or denial. It wasn't nothing big. Or I wouldn't be questing whether it was or not.

Hey Jeeps, go to the USGS link and look at the topo map of where the epicenter was located. Have you been on the road at Newfound Gap?

We use to have them all the time when I was in college. The San Andreas Fault ran right across my college campus.

That's 441. That is always traffic ridden. It would be nice if the road wasn't bumper to bumper all the way through. That goes between the two tourist traps of Gatlinburg and Cherokee.
