Gas Generators

Who has had any experience with the Honda or Yamaha generators. I am looking at the small 1000w units and would appreciate any input. I need a small one to power a couple strobe lights on location for shoots. My current POS died recently and I need to pick up a couple more.

But why are you asking a question like this on a bike forum?

I have a 12,000 watt Yam at work and it ROCKS!

You can't go wrong with a Honda. When it comes to small motors they know their stuff! PERIOD!!!

and to TWF

The lill Honda will power most what you need. Just not a lot at once.

Thank for the info.......I ask here because I figured there might be some owners of the units Im looking into. And.........I shoot many of the bikes you see in 2WT........ Damn 12,000w thats a little to big for my use, although it would come in handy here in Florida this time of year.

I've never used the little ones personally but see many with them at the track.

We use a Troy-bilt 8000w at home for the ice storms.

Thats another reason why I asked it here. I see alot of crews running the small ones at the track. The 1000w untis weigh like 25lbs, super quiet, and run forever, or so they say. I was leaning toward the honda, but then the yamaha came to mind........

I still don't know what kind of load your lights will pull. I do know that the 1000w unit will power a 2hp air compressor and a pair of 500w utility lights at the same time. The light did slightly dim but were constantly usable.

The strobes pull 320w each max. I never use them full power. My last unti was 1000w and never had an issue. Its all good. I will grab a pair tomorrow.

I understand your reasoning...

If I had to choose... I'd always go with the honda... just cause they are proven! Plus the small honda's are sweet! I have like 2 at work.
