I'm Officially Retarded!!! Woot! Woot!

Uhhhhh, that's RETIRED...my little niece can't pronounce it. I've gone into DROP (Deferred Retirement Option Plan). You actually resign/retire, but keep working for up to 5 years but can quit at any time and get full benefits. I'll never make 5, but it's a damn good feeling to be 53 and in this position I think I'll book it as soon as all my bills are paid off. Then, I can go biking every morning if I want And go stand in line at the post office or bank at noon when all the working stiffs are there on their lunch hour (No, I won't do that. That pisses me off to no end!)

LOL, we are actually sending off one of our worker bees tomorrow with a massive steak dinner. The steaks we got are bigger than a human head.

guys I want a freakin steak now!!!

Either way... that's cool. I was just talkin to a co-worker about retirement. At 55 I'll have 35 years in here... but can retire easily at 50, with 30yrs of service, if I keep my investments in order.

I think they just raised our retirement age from 50 to 55 to keep all health insurance benefits.

We use to have some of the best benefits you could get, since we are government. Every year though it seems they take away more and more from us. My health insurance went up double this year alone. I hate my fake union that represents me. They do not fight for anything when they could easily win arbitration. IBEW wants us bad, they would actually fight for us. I don't know why we just don't go with them.

Well unions is a whole seperate thread that would probably get too hott and locked fast...maybe with vacations going out. So I'm not going there!

It sucks on the no health care when I retire. But the company is trying to work something out that will allow us to buy into the health care now so we have it later.

Our union isn't a real union. We aren't legally allowed to have a union. This is just a group that represents us in bargaining for benefits or as I like to call it losing us benefits.

Yeah, my 5 year old niece came up to me and said my sister said I was retarded. She heard her tell my brother-in-law that I was retired...At least, I hope that's what she told him!

Congrats. My dad was able to retire (fireman) at the age of 50. He's 61 now and still enjoying it. That was my goal until I lost may last job after 8 years. However, my youngest will be 18 when I'm only 43 and that will feel just as good as a retirement.
