Corvette / CF Forum Guys... radio tech question

Details:
1984 Corvette
Delco Bose system
6 speakers

Speakers
?? 4" dash
4" door speakers
4" rear speakers

Working on my bosses car...

Bad radio system. Neither the dash or the door speakers work. Tested with good speaker and nothing.

It looks like the system has a amp box behind each speaker. Not part of the speaker but right behind it.

Possibly bad head unit?

What other years of a stock delco head unit will fit in there?

Might be able to contact someone at Delphi (who aquired Delco back in '99). Unfortunately the Delco company no longer exists. Might be SOL on this one.

I just need to find out what years I have to stay in when searching ebay?

I think the front channel is gone in the radio cause there is NO sound coming from any of the 4 front speakers.

Yeah but I don't want to be one of those guys posting a tech question and then splitting... so I thought maybe I could get one of you CF members to do it for me... then link up the thread here.

Just get a aftermarket radio and install kit and forget about that out dated Bose crap.

I am a car stereo pro here.....most likely the bose pre-amp is shot....it happens all the time with bose sh*t. Replace the bose unit, or bypass the entire bose system w/ an aftermarket deck.

Modern Bose stuff is top shelf but the crap from the 80's is just that. CRAP!
I'm pretty sure the amp is built into the radio on those. It would be cheaper and sound better in the end to just replace the head unit.

Oh yea! 84 to 87 stuff should work to answer one of your original questions. Just don't buy anything for an 83. I dought it would fit.

My step brother had one of those. He shot himself in the leg in that car, then drove himself to the hospital. Then my sister bought the car. Then her friend bought it. Nobody else was shot in it that I'm aware of. lol
