Bird Problems

Ok... so I am battling the birds.

All summer life was good... early fall it was the same.

Then the temps dropped...

These little finch sized bird keep getting under my cloth retractable awning. In turn they crap all of my vynal deck. I hate it. Plus I'm afraid if they are going to chew up my cloth awning. I understand why... they are getting out of the cold and the wind. But I don't want them there.

I went to the hardware store. They had this caughing that I supposed stinks or somin. And the owl. I tried the owl thing. It worked great for about a week. Then that got jacked! They were still up there. I even moved it around as instructed. Hanging it so it would sway a bit.. but they're back.

Suggestions?

Suggestions from expierence would be better...

It seems like the gel/caugh is one of the most common. I may have to try that and just put it on the top of the awning beams where they keep landing.

Can you fabricate some type of spike system that they can't land on? Or maybe use some chicken wire or something similar to keep them out of it? I know it won't look good, but if it keeps them out for the winter, the benefits may outweigh the ugliness.

Yeah I agree and I'm thinking of that as well Capt.

My wife told me to try the bounce dryer sheet trick... cause in case you don't know they repel alot of stuff. I know for sure they are suppose to repel (according to a email or somin my wife has) mesquitoes and mice. So whatever... it calmed me down for the night.

Tomry I'm going to get some of that gel/caugh stuff...

Can you take the awning down, or do you need it?

why don't you just feed the birds.........some poison. Then all you would have to do is pick up dead birds.
