Man Critically Hurt In Gator Attack

POSTED: 9:11 am EST November 29, 2006
UPDATED: 11:02 am EST November 29, 2006

Lakeland Florida.

A man who was taking an early morning walk was attacked by an alligator in Lakeland on Wednesday.

Adrian Apgar, of Polk City, was walking along the edge of Lake Parker when the attack happened, WESH 2 News reported.

The alligator came out of the water, grabbed Apgar and dragged him into the water, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Gary Morse said.

Two nearby sheriff's deputies heard Apgar screaming for help and dove into the water, Morse said, and they pulled the man from the alligator's jaws and dragged him out of the water.

Apgar was transported to Lakeland Regional Hospital in critical condition, officials said. Apgar suffered an apparent broken right arm, a partially amputated left arm and a major injury to his upper left leg.
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers are at the lake trying to locate the alligator.

There's something about walking near the waters edge... in an area where 'alligators' LIVE what are you thinking.... "I'm the top of the food chain....and nothing can hurt me??" Dumb-Arse...

Sorry but I don't walk in Crip neighborhood wearing Red...

Have some SENSE... exactly like you said, if you're in the bad part of a downtown area, common sense says lock your car doors. So if you're walking around near water, gee, maybe walk farther AWAY from the water, and be very aware of your surroundings!!

What I don't understand is what is suppose to be achieved by capturing the alligator.

Punish him for bad deeds?

Its their nature and their homes... kill him just because?

A good pair of boots, a nice belt and maybe a wallet to match.

In the country you just get your son(farmhand) to help you bury the body and no one is the wiser.
