Best & Worst of 2006

Stealing from another board, since this is always an interesting discussion.....

What are some of the highlights/best moments you recall from 2006?

What are some of the low points/worst moments for you in 2006?

What do you look forward to in 2007?

For me?

Best? The promotion I got in October rates highly. There were other good/fun moments, but I think there were just so many not-so-good ones, they seem to have been eclipsed.

Worst? There are a lot of those.... a friend who was killed in a motorcycle crash on June 4th. Another friend who went down BADLY on July 30th (3 friends went down that day actually, but Chaz is still dealing with the recovery process)... another friend went down in September. All in all it's been a bad year in terms of crashes.

While on vacation (visiting my parents) this last week, we learned my step-father has now gone into Stage 2 degeneration of M.S. (as his Doctor said, the beginning of the end).

But the worst memory of this year is the passing of my Grandmother on August 9th. I don't think I've fully accepted that one yet.

Looking forward to in 2007? Not having a repeat of 2006. I've spent way too much time in hospital E/Rs and cried way more than I wish to recall... I'd like for my friends, family and loved ones to remain safe and healthy in 2007.

Best for me was my son getting nothing less than A's, B's and C's on his last report card. I almost went into shock at the parent teach conference. This is pretty significant because of the problems my wife and I are having with our son.

Worst for me was going down in June, my grandfather (my mothers father) passing from a house fire, and my grandmother (my fathers mother) having a stroke which has permanently put her in a nursing home.

For 2007, I look forward to getting back to riding and even more so, riding the dragon in May.

Best- Graduating from College- thank god its over!

Worst- Graduating College and having to leave my friends and MA School.
My parents have had it pretty bad though- great-grandmother died, aunt's god-mother died, grandmother had a stroke, other grandfather may have cancer... I'm not saying it doesn't hurt me, just that they're old, and surrounded by friends and loved ones. So it doesn't get to me as much. Everything dies- and I can think of worse ways to go.

Best: Being promoted and getting to move to NW AR. Time spent with the 21 month old (he learned so much this year). Getting to commute on my bike most of the year. Rocking at the Jason Pridmore School last May.

Worst: Found out my dad has prostrate cancer. Fighting over the step kids with my wife's ex for child support and visitation. Family and job stress forced my marriage to be more distant. Moving away from my (great) long time church and family.

All in all the most stressful year of my life, really. If not for the distraction from TWF I woulda cracked for sure. Hope the changes in my life made this year will bring a better more fulfilling 2007.

best: riding with family and friends, either it being going to the gap with three generations and meetin twf's down there or taking MSF course with psycho, or just riding with pyscho, going to get psychos bike- 24 hour one way and back in a day joy ride to maryland, going to MI to ride with some more twf'ers...also spending the summer in the keys, diving, swimming, eating fresh caught lobster... or just getting my bike putting 4000 miles on in under two months

worst- watching psycho go down. that was the worst, but she got back up and jumped back on the ride (after a day to let the bruises heal) having my pet snake stolen, leaving the bike for the summer after only having it a total of two weeks, rents divorce, being homeless...

looking forward to psycho making big bucks, and seeing everyone in June

Best: This one is easy - NEW JOB!!! Also spent a week in Mexico for Thanksgiving. You can read about the latter and see pics in my blog. (See sig.)

Worst: I had a massive flare-up of a chronic illness that had been in remission for 20 years. (I'm okay now.) Going down at the track in September kind of sucked too. So did the car crash the next month. Yeah, I took a beating this year.

Looking forward to: Getting a new car this spring, and possibly getting my now 4-year-old a dirtbike next Christmas. Other than that, it should be a year full of work, track days, homebrewing, and spending time with the wife and our 2 boys.

best: it's a tie...hubby surprising me with the harley and getting accepted to nursing school.

worst: nothing really bad happened to me this year (i'm lucky), so i guess the worst is not ever having enough free time.

2007: just hoping to do well in school and spend more quality time with the people and things i love.

when you turn your bike on, does it return the favor?

best would be my close family (wife and kids) having a healthy year.

worst would be going down twice on both my street bikes.

for 2007 I'm looking forward to adding a 2007 Z1000 to the stable as soon as they hit dealers here.

When I wake up in the morning I piss excellence.

Well, the best just came about on Friday night for me. My daughter finally said, "I love you, Daddy." I almost cried cause I've been waiting to hear that for so long.

Surrender the booty, and let me get my hands on that beautiful treasure chest!!

One of these days, I'll actually buy a bike again...
