Coast Guard Chopper Lands On Golf Course
POSTED: 4:03 pm EST December 13, 2006
Play was interrupted at the Fleming Island golf course Wednesday afternoon when a U.S. Coast Guard HITRON helicopter made a precautionary landing.
The Coast Guard said the crew set the helicopter on the fifth hole of the course just before 1 p.m., made some equipment checks and took off.
A Fleming Island homeowner told Channel 4 that some mechanics arrrived to make repairs, the aircraft was restarted and hovered briefly, then landed again. After a brief conference, the aircraft took off and headed east.
The whole incident took just over one hour.
