Breed Specific Legislation- Bikers aren't the Target anymore.

<RANT!!!!>
How much more stupid can people get, I mean banning a dog because PEOPLE say it will bite??? Pitbull's got it the worst, people actually think that they are child hunting mongrels with only the taste of human blood on their mind... My Grandma actually BELEIVED, until I told her otherwise, that they had 7000 psi of pressure on their bite!!!! Since we the "outlaw biker hoodlums", figured out we could stand up for ourselves, the people moved to something that can't. DOGS!!!! MAN's BEST FRIEND!!! And the media are the worst of them all...every single attack seems to be from a pitbull, probably because they dont know the diffrence between their head and their ass.

BTW I love Pitbulls, and hopefully in time, just like now we have this "Biker craze" goin on, in the not so distant future there will be a "Pitbull Craze" and these Legislators or whatnot will be able to pull their heads out of their ass long enough to see that its the irresponsible owners fault, not the dogs fault, that bites keep happening... Just like some people should not have any children, so should said people be probably better off without a dog.

I really hope that these people have a one-on-one encounter with a pitbull, and that in a fit of enraged lovingness the pitbull licks the faces of these people and rips their heart into pieces when they figure out how wrong they've been, and how much damage they've done to this breed.
<End Rant>

I feel your pain man, and you're right the dog is not responsible... it is the owners fault for not investing the reqired amount of time working with their dog to make damn sure the dog is socialized efficiently to the point that attacking a human would never even be a consideration.

The sad fact is at this point due to "the majority of pit bull owners" failing to know the breed and to successfully socialize the natural dominant character trait out of them, the Pit Bull has been stigmatized. Being a former Pit Bull owner- I know from my experience that this breed does indeed have a natural instict to dominate. But if you spend enough time with them and raise them with a more submissive nature- you can't find a sweeter more loving dog. But unfortunately most people who are attracted to "guard dogs" get a pit for one reason... to impress other dumbasses who strive to have the biggest baddest most aggressive dog possible... then to make matters worse- they breed the dog only to produce offspring with the same aggressive temperment.

At this point the breed has gotten out of control- although not due to the animals fault- the fact remains the attacks are far to often and far to severe to NOT put some type of control in place.

Most people dont know that Pit-bulls were actuall breed not to bite people. Back 100 years when they were used heavily for fighting dogs, if a pit bite a person, they were killed immediatly. The dog either has to be trained to bite or have been very mistreated. I have owned several Pits and they have been some of the best dogs I could of ever had. I have never been bite or even growled out by one of my dogs. I take them to parks and other peoples houses and have never worried once that they might bite someone or another dog. There are too many wanna be gangstas who think that owning a mean and agrresive dog is cool.

I totally agree, then they mistreat it, leave it locked up in their yard, dont feed it for a couple of days, then get rid of it by either fighting them or just abandoning them, I wish these people were treated the same way... Get in the ring!!! Arent u gangsta?!!!! Now fight to the death before u can eat something!!!!! It just blows my mind

I know pits aren't really that mean at all. It is all about who owns the dog I have never had a mean dog; I raise my dogs in a firm anf loving manner and don't tolerate people biting. I have seen mean dangerous dogs wandering nieghborhoods that were many different breeds. I have seen few pitbulls wndering about not say they don't, but any dog can be dangerous if raised by the wrong people.

You know what we call pit/boxers? Pixers! Boxer's are hyper and actually pit's are not protective dogs, its not in their nature. If someone broke into my house my pitties would be like "Hi! Here to play with me? Lick, lick, lick" although my dobe and foster English Coonhound would eat them. As far as the thing with hats, that can happen with any dog - one bad experience with someone with a hat on can make any breed of dog fearful of people with hats on.

One of my other fosters Oscar, an australian cattle dog mix, was terrified of anyone with gloves on when I got him. Some positive reinforcement/desensitization training and now he's fine with it.

I agree. its the morons that breed these dogs so they can be "cool" by having a mean or vicious dog that should suffer, not the breed. you can make any breed a mean or aggressive one toward a person given enough mistreatment or the wrong person teaching the animal. pits are capable of being just as loving as any other dog. this is one that gets my blood boiling. people who get dogs should be mandated to take a test to determine if they're qualified to have a dog or not.

I love dogs, in fact you could say I have a soft spot for them because I've never had better companions than my dogs, and people wanting to ban my closest companions get me all fired up.

I know Pip... I was just stating things about this particular dog. They have 2 dogs..both normal muts/mixes. The other one is lab and somin and while still some puppy hyper is alot more calm then the other pixer. And my borther knows how people re-act to the pixer being he looks so pitbull like. He keeps a tight leash on the pixer.

Dude... that sucks sooo bad... I love my dog... couldnt ever imagine having someone tell me I cant have her bcuz people train them violently or train them incorrectly... maybe have legislation on bad owners... spare the dogs

I heard their doing it to a bunch of breeds not just pits... German Shepards, and other large dogs are being affected.
