I have actually seen one in person... Michelin calls it the TWEEL... far from being perfect and high speed travel is not functionally prudent with the design... I don't see it getting out of the R&D and into production any time soon... They do also hae teh PAX technology tire which is a variation of the tpical run flat technology... it is a rim that has an inner support system that the tire gets support from if it suffers damage that causes tires to go flat... there were several of the PAX technology systems used on the 2006 Honda Odyssey's. I believe like 1600 in the US.

They use them for construction equipment like Bobcat skid steer loaders but, they don't exactly need to be balanced and Bobcats don't move very fast but, the durability is definitely there though.

Somehow, I don't see those being great for cornering. Or is that simply just a model to show what the inside of the tire looks like?

no they're actual "air-less" tires... but I agree... I can't see them not warping when leaned over...
