Paintballers??

Okay- I just got a used Spyder Victor II. Handle is cracked, but I got a great deal. About 100 paintballs in a pod, marker, full 12oz. tank, custom barrel, all the little stuff in a stock box (hopper, tools, o-rings...).

Me and my little brother were out shooting around, and I nailed him a couple times. How do you control the pressure? Also- he has a problem with paint breaking in his barrel- what is a good place to get a replacement barrel? Or is there some other way of dealing with this?

Not sure what brand/model his gun is, but it looks like it's setup differently from mine. Valving between the CO2 inlet/handle and the LPC? (mine is a hollow tube- his is a cap over some springs) where mine is between the main receiver block and the CO2 inlet/handle.

on my tippman theres a set screw that controls the pressure (cirlced)
if hes breakin balls in the barral it could be crappy balls, dirty barrel, or too much pressure. alot of pressure wont give a accurate shot either. theyll curve all around. some to the left, some right, all over.

That's the gun my little bro wanted. Tippman 98 Custom. Dad got him the other one from someone at work- another good deal. I don't think it's the paintballs, since they don't break in my gun. His gun seems to run lower pressure, but run out of gas faster, so I'm not sure. He's running a stock ~8" barrel with no porting. Tried putting my barrel on his gun, put the threads are different. We did a quick check- no micrometer or anything, but my barrel seems to be a little larger inner diameter.

I'll have him run a few of the balls I got and see if it helps. They seem a hair smaller/more round.

www.pbnation.com

they'll be able to help you over there. I used to be a MOD back in my touranment paintball days.

the velocity is usually controlled though a set screw, or by the cocking rod. if you have an inline cocking rod it'll be adjusted there, if not, somewhere else. if you show me a pic i'll tell u how to adjust velocity.

If you have a regulator (which im sure you dont) it'll be adjusted there.

as for barrels check that forum, theres a buy/sell/trade section.

pick up a used J&J cermaic barrel, best bang for your buck. gonna run about 20 bucks used, 40 new.

have fun, be safe.

ah, and it very well could be the paintballs. that is the one thing you cant really skimp on. if a paintball has been in out of the package for 2 weeks it starts to deform, a month and at least 1 out of every 10 are gonna be slightly egg shaped.

go get some PMI premium, marbalizer, Team collors, whatever. u can pick up a bag of 500 of some really good paint for twenty bucks, and you can get practice paint for about 10 bucks / 500.

dont strip your barrels, there are dif barrel threads for every marker just about. autococker and spyder look similar and seem to be the most popular, but you will be screwed if you try to put a cocker threaded barrel on a spyder.

Yeah my bro says stick with the www.pbnation.com www.888paintball.com www.splatdogs.com

But you would be best off to get rid of that gun and get a Shocker or A5 or Ion, basically your Smart Parts aka American Made stuff. Or maybe a old faithfull Tippman with a electric trigger and nitro tank.

A good decent gun should run ya $300 for just the gun
$150 upgrades to the gun including trigger, board, barrel maybe...
Must get nitrogen $70 for a alum tank
$140 for a nice electric hopper

~~ $700 for something that will get you to be able to not get your arse kicked by a 13year old sportin a $2,000 "weapon of mass destruction" But you will still need to have some kickin skills not to get majorly schooled.

My bro is sportin 2 guns...

Smart Parts Shocker, black heart board, nitro tank, "the egg" or Halo similar hopper. =$1250

The "rental" gun he lets me use is the Diablo Wrath, blade trigger, upgraded board, nitro tank, and same hopper. =$750 AND a great example of a good starter gun and the one he loans to peeps like me!

I was into paintball pretty hardcore myself, back in the day. Had a 2K3 WGP E-Orracle. That thing was deadly, although perhaps not quite a match for the Angels or Shockers.

Thanks all, and good advice. I'll take a look at those sites definitely. But I'm not looking to spend a load on another expensive hobby just now. (buying a bike as soon as possible) I'm just going to mess around with my brothers, and hit the local field once in a while. The Spyder I have seems like it'll do fine for that.

I did a little research online, and found my brother's gun- the Brass Eagle Avenger. Some good reviews, some bad. I got parts diagrams for both, and found someplace that says the Avenger should have Spyder threads. Well- threads on our guns are damn close, just my barrel is longer into the receiver, so we'll look around. Probably just try to find him a new barrel or better matched paintballs. Maybe a new gun for christmas.

On a bit of a tangent- anyone use airsoft paintballs? My other brother won a sick airsoft smg. Absolutely refuses to put paint through it...

I know what you're talking about. I had to get out of paintball cause I bought a car and didn't have enough cash for both.

hey, once you get into it, it really isn't that hard to spend a ton of cash on paintball. Hardcore paintball is alot different than the classic Walmart Weekend Warrior.
