Need some advise, High Def vid cams.....

I've done a quick search on the net & found these 2 possibilities: Sony Handycam HDR-FX7 & Sony DSR-PD170

Anyone familiar with some pro, high-end, video equipment?

Being a professional video photographer...I am somewhat familiar with this stuff...although we use Sony betacams. The FX7 is a high quality camera...in fact they both are. Any camera with 3 ccd's is gonna give you an outstanding picture. I have seen the FX7 used in many different areas...for example...alot of production company's use it for recording live bands.

I think you'd be happy with either of them. BTW...what do you plan on using it for...? Thats alot of coin to spend on a family camcorder.

I'm researching the idea of filming at tracks. Not just on-board stuff, but the full package.....possibly with original music too. I've always been interested in producing short films & I may have an opportunity to do it here in the near future.
