SPC SCOTT MICHAEL BANDHOLD
was born on 28 DEC 1968 in Long Island, NY. He entered the military on 27 MAR 2003, where he attended basic and advanced individual training as an infantryman at Fort Benning, Georgia. After completion from training, he was assigned to 1-67 AR, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) on 13 OCT 2003. While assigned to Fort Hood, his unit was called upon to serve in Iraq as part of OIF 05-07. SPC Bandhold was assigned as a dismount for on a M1114 up-armored HMMWV for the Battalion Operations Officer. He was an outstanding father, son, and soldier. SPC Bandhold can be best described as a very respectful, professional, and mature soldier. He always placed the mission and his children as his top priorities. SPC Bandhold is survived by his two children, Marianna and Afonso Bandhold, his father Henry Bandhold, and two brothers, Joe and Don Bandhold. SPC Bandhold’s awards include Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
Key Points: SPC Bandhold served many years as an entertainer, working at Walt Disney World, numerous Cruise Lines and at a casino in Portugal. While working in Portugal he met his wife and had two children. After 9/11 he divorced his wife and decided to join the Army. His mother passed away from emphysema this past July.
