Just Plain Dumb !!!

This morning on my way to work a guy on a harley shot pass me like I was sitting still. I could see him weaving in and out of traffic miles up the highway I really didn't think much of it because you see it all the time, but this guy just had on a tee shirt, and a rag NO lid.The people here drive for sh*t anyway, and I know its going tobe a matter of time sh*t like that is going to catch up with him.

Next I hear on the radio news about two teens getting caught tagging by the PO-PO, and their family jumps in and start fighting the cops. Needless to say they call back up and twelve more showed up, In the end everyone went to jail. Thats just plain DUMB!

I guess the saddest thing is that NOTHING surprises me anymore. With all the craziness in the world, I watch the news and its like "oh well". It is rare that anything shocks me. We've seen so much in the past decade it makes you wonder what the world will be like in 100 years????

I've even gotten numb to the squids. I have determined that in the overall sportbike world, squids outnumber us. So why should I be surprised to see the kid in the t-shirt and shorts with the g/f in flip flops blaze by my window every day. And it is pointless talking to them. Example, my g/f and I are in Burger King the other night. As we walk in, I see a Ninja 250 out front. I'm thinkin, "good, some starting out right" WRONG, I go inside and this kid who could not have been over 15 starts askin about my bike. (Shorts, tshirt, sneakers) It goes something like this.
Kid: What kinda bike is that?
Me: zx10
Kid: That the same as so & so has?
Me: Yes
Kid: That guy rides good wheelies?
Me: Yeah, I know him. That your 250? I like it.
Kid: I don't
Me: Why?
Kid: It's not fast enough
Me: It will do 100mph
Kid: That's not fast enough and it won't wheelie
Me: 100 is more than fast enough to kill you

About this time the kid behind the counter chimes in (another 16 ish kid). "Yeah, I got a 500, but I'm about to get a gixxer 750" I gave them the short gear, msf, speed talk. I might as well have been talking to the wall.

As my g/f and I walk to our table all I could do was shake my head and say "I wonder if they'll make it?"

It's pointless they won't learn. Just look after yourself and those you ride with.

Not me... Sometimes I paraphrase a line that our very own Back_Marker used one time on here, "Awesome, when you crash that thing and get yourself killed me and my buddies can get some cheap track bikes... We really appreciate that!" Not that I am looking for a track bike, but I think it gets the point across... Or, I throw out my best Forrest Gump impression, "stupid is as stupid does."

There's not much we or anyone else can do. As they said in the MSF class: "Ask yourself how much risk YOU are willing to accept."

Apparently these types of people are willing to accept enormous amounts, and I imagine it's out of sheer stupidity, since there is more than enough information out there to tell them otherwise.

I guess we can all just pray that they don't put anyone ELSE in danger, and/or that they smarten up some day. Anyway, just my

Just wearing my gear when I ride with some friends has gotten them thinking.
They now wear helmets (we'll see how the summer heat affects that) and they bought good boots and textile jackets.

So, it's a step in the right direction.
