He signed it and everything? I suppose you could report it stolen so maybe they wont be able to register it...

You have to sign it to get it transfered. Further, unless you know a notary, you have to sign it IN FRONT OF THE NOTARY. Even further, if you file a report they will just wait for the schmuck to register it. At that point, a simple signature comparison will tell the tale...

Only retard criminals would give two chits and a fluck about the title... Steal the bike, take off all the unmarked parts and sell them... The rest takes a swim someplace...

If it was signed, and notarized, yes. Take it in, pay registration and tax, and new plate.

NO!!!

It needs to be notarized before it can be transfered and transfered before it can be registered (plates). If these guys know a notary they can just have them do it without the other party being present... In that case, you'd just have to wait until they transfered the title at the DMV then do a signature comparison. Unless the bike was a total turd, it's grand theft... Police take that serious enough to watch out for it being registered...

That's a whole lot of risk, with not a lot of reward for the criminal... It's a much better deal for them to just scrap the marked parts, sell the rest... or just ride it until it runs out of gas, then push it off a cliff... That's what I would do.
