Pretty neat post I found on a local forum..... lots of stuff I didn't know!
Skip the voicemail menu crap
They charge you for the time you're listening to the person's voicemail instructions. Forget that crap, and just leave a message. (The only "drawback" is you need to know THEIR provider and use that secret keystroke)
Verizon: press *
Sprint: press 1
T-Mobile or Cingular/AT&T: press #
Airtime Minutes you've used...
Press these secret keystrokes on your phone:
Verizon/T-Mobile: #646# (that’s MIN, if you think about it)
Free 411 calls!!
Regular 411 can cost $1.50 or more. Skip the charge and go free!
There is a 15 second ad you have to listen to.. but hey, it's better than $2 right?
Or text GOOGL (46645) that says “Robert Gonzales 10024” (or whatever person or business you’re looking for). Google will send back the full name, address, and phone number, within just a few seconds.
Also, now Google apparently does free directory assistance
Just call: 800-GOOG-411
Need your phone to ring at a certain time? Want to look important?
You can program http://www.popularitydialer.com
to call your cell phone at a specified time, to get you out of a boring meeting or a bad date. It’s free — and it’s awesome!
Also, with some providers, you can use your Bluetooth headset to connect to your bluetooth enabled PC/laptop to use your cell phones internet connection ANYWHERE! Just pair the two. It's pretty simple. If you have Verizon, you're SOL, since they want you to buy their roaming internet plan.
