Ah, it's no different than stopping for gas... we've all heard those same stupid remarks... "Is that a Ninjer bike? My uncle's brother's father's 2nd cousin twice removed knew a guy who had one of them."

I hate that, "my second cousin twice removed had one of those there crotch rockets, he went like 190 mph and hit a brick wall. You are going to kill yourself with that thing."

Yup, I've heard that one a million times, too. It's like "Gee, thanks... just the thought I needed in my head as I'm putting on my helmet and heading out on the road. You have a great day, too...."

You know, I used to get that stuff a long time ago, but now I don't for some reason... Maybe everyone wants me to kill myself?

I got that whole "Your going to kill yourself" thing from mom last night while sitting on the back porch at the wonderful 5 o'clock hour at my folks house. She had been fairly calm about the whole thing until she heard about a wreck on the radio. I then gave her a bunch of statistics (some true, the rest that sounded like they ought to be true) about the amount of time I have been riding, my age bracket, the style of bike I am on, and the fact that I am a fairly smart guy. I have found out that information puts her fears to rest, even if only for a short time.

Even at the age of 33 I am still the baby of the family, the black sheep (well more of an off white one than black), and the most independent one of the group. Mamas will worry, that is the fact of life, so we do what we can to calm their fears. For the rest of the people who claim that I might kill myself......if I know them I will respond with "Yea, well, I think the chances are better of me dying choking on a peice of rare steak"......and to those I don't know "Thanks, I never thought of that you fun killing Nazi".

Yea my momma always told me I couldnt have a motocycle because her brother had not one but two bad wrecks, last bein sliding under a semi which ran a stop sign. Neither ever made me not thinkin of getting a bike once I was old enough so she could stop me Going down on a bike is just part of it and we all are going to go down eventually, just some worse than others and usually form 3 things, 1.) riding outside ones skills, 2.) being stoopid, (they have 2 wheels for a reason) etc., and 3 some stoopid cager not watch WTF they are doing. Number 1 and 3 being the most likely causes. My Momma now just tells me to be careful and doesn't lecture me any more. Gotta love moms

NO offense to the stuntza's or those of us that choose to show out once in awhile, we all do it in our own ways, even me cept I keep both tires on the ground we know the risk when we do it.
