My hillbilly weekend.

So, my family and I were given free 85 dollar tickets from a vendor to Nascar in the center of the front stretch right next to the pole/finish line. Amazing seats.. So we arrive at 8am for a 2pm race, talk about dedication!

When you arrive you feel like you've landed in Gypsy town. Everyone is grilling breakfast and playing weird contraptions like this...

Custom made by a soon to be inlaw's friend. The goals relate to horseshoes

Huston, we have landed at..Nascar. Hillbilly honeymoon and a Hayabusa.

So after hours upon hours of sweating, getting massive sun burn, and eating some delicious grilled brats we head for the track, which even in the parking lot is a friggen' 2 mile walk!

I'm so rooting for Jeff Gordon, which every Nascar fan hates because he can actually spell his own name and win races

Here they come around the 4th corner, lemme tell you these cars are LOUD! Fast too, they came down the stretch so fast you couldn't tell which car is which, which is why I have no good straight away shots.

Go figure, my favorite driver Jeff Gordon doesn't win this race, even though he's been dominating this season and is in first place in points. *sigh* I also have a vicious sun burn and my feet feel like they're going to fall off. What a day...

Seen that before tailgating for NCAA football games. They don't allow horseshoes for obivious safety reasons, so a lot of people made these. Seen them all over the place. Not unusual at all for sports events/large gatherings.

Well, you don't have to hold back, but there are good reasons to use oval tracks. Many stock, motorcycle, and indy circuits use oval tracks. The simple track lay out offers the most room and speed for making passes and going very very fast. Indy cars can push 220 easily but never really pass 160 in F1 because the tracks have so many turns.

For instance Dale Earnhardt Jr. started in 23 on the line and finished in 4th I believe. When passes like that are being made in turns at 180mph it's really something to see up close and personal to appreciate

I rule at throwing washers.

With the Gordon thing. I'm by no means a NASCAR fan, but I pull for Gordon just to piss off the rednecks. Can't wait to see what the necks have to say about Jr. being his teammate next year

Hahaha, my inlaw is a Earnhardt Jr fan (Carbon Copy of every other Nascar fan) and he hates that I root for Gordon. Man, I still haven't let him forget that he will be Gordons teammate next year

I don't care what kind of racing it is racing is awesome no matter what. I have been to many different kinds of races and the only races that are as roudy party wise as motorcycle races are nascar races.

We used to go every year. Then NASCAR took off and tickets got ridiculous in price so we stopped going. It seems like it is ALWAYS a super hot day for that race too. Last year we went to the Michigan Indy 400 which I really liked. Glad you had a good time!
