Coupon Queen

From one of the local news stations...

More Than a 'Coupon Queen'
Forget the title "coupon queen." Tamara Oliverio is a coupon commando. She's so hard core, she even turns the word "coupon" into a verb.

"I know, I do," she says, "It's 'couponing.'"

Olivario attacks a Kroger in Westland armed not only with a stack of coupons, but also some easy to come by research from the Web site cutouthunger.org.

"It's already done for you online," Oliverio says. "All you have to do is find the coupons she has pointed out for you."

The site highlights which coupons to use right now and where to find them. Kroger is the only local store on the site at the moment, but others might be coming depending on demand.

Oliverio actually lives coupons — she works at Livonia-based Valassas, the marketing company behind a lot of the coupons people cut every day. So she has no guilt when she uses four free coupons for otherwise pricey razor kits. She's quick to remind us that "Schick covers the cost because they want people to try their products."

Tamara's genius and the power of coupons become clear at the checkout line:

The price for all of her stuff comes to about $143.
But with the Kroger Plus Card, it's down to $100.
Then come the coupons, often doubled from face value; several even give Tamara items for free.
Now catch out this bottom line: $35.53.

Checking the tale of the tape, you see Tamara saved more than $106, or an unbelieveable 76 percent off her entire bill. She bought 44 items for less than a buck apiece.

But here's the really remarkable part: Tamara won't use any of what she bought guided by the cutouthunger.org Web site. It's going to Gleaner's Food Bank on Detroit's East Side. That's because the site organizer wants everyone who uses her free information to give something back, whether it's in the form of food or money.

It's a heck of a system. Feed yourself for less, and feed others, too!

Now all we need is a coupon system to save us a dollar a gallon at the gas pump.

If you want more information, head to cutouthunger.org.

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian police apologized on Thursday after inadvertently sending Internet images of child pornography to 1,800 schools while trying to warn principals about children at risk of abuse.

The mistake came during a police crackdown on child pornography that has so far resulted in more than 200 arrests, including police, teachers, clergy and the owner of a child-care center, after more than 400 raids.

Police assistant commissioner Graeme Morgan said human error had resulted in "partial images" of child pornography being sent to 1,800 government-run schools across New South Wales, Australia's most populous state.

"This is a very unfortunate incident and we deeply regret it happened. A full internal investigation is underway," Morgan said in a statement.

Morgan said the images of three young girls had been sent to the state's Department of Education (news - web sites). The photographs sent by police and found during the arrest of a man suspected of possessing child pornography, had been cropped to show only the girls' faces.

However, inadequate software had been used in the cropping process and the full images remained embedded in some files, which were later opened by a handful of recipients, he said.

"This resulted in pornographic material being accidentally sent to the department for distribution to school principals in an effort to identify the children at risk," Morgan said.

He said police have made an urgent request for all unopened files to be deleted and for printed images to be destroyed. About 80 percent of the e-mails have had already been opened, he said.

Morgan said police have so far been unable to locate the girls who were in the photographs.

Glenwood Canyon is on the other side of the Continental Divide. They showed some of the boulders that were as big as a van. They actually broke through the elevated part of the highway. I-70 going through Glenwood Canyon is four lanes, but the canyon is so narrow that parts of it are stacked on top of each other. Not real tight twisties, but spectacular scenery and engineering. If you ever pass through make sure you stop at the pool in Glenwood Springs for lunch and a dip in the hot springs.

Yeah I figured you, No worries, would know about this!

N4S, we don't need that type of crap in here!!!

We had a drunk hit a propane truck up here once, on I-69, (love that h/w,duh) and it fell off the top of the overpass and exploded on impact. It burned up the bridge so bad that they had to close it! The driver died and it was really sad..
