Job Offer- ???

I've been working the same job for 6 years now- kinda burnt out- borred with it, but I'm somewhat set with my house/garage/lake and river access... I've been offered an opportunity which involves a substantial pay increase and possibly even better working conditions (I currently work in a cubicle which I HATE)... the catch is the promotion would involve moving to Ontario CA. I'm not against moving- I am just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the area- I don't know anything about it. What do you guys think?

Ontario Canada or Ontario Cali? If its cali I vote go for it, if its canada screw that, less riding time, completely new place, etc. But to each his own. For me it would depend on the difference in pay vs the hassle and trouble of moving and settling in a new place.

I grew up not far from there, about 20 miles west of Ontario. Its ok. You are real close to the mountains if you like to ski. There is some great fishing up at Big Bear Lake and you'd be less than an hour from Newport Beach . Its a great area but the negatives are traffic, cost of living, smog, and crime. My guess is that housing is going to be 3 times what it is in TX also.

Sounds to me like somebody needs to take a weekend trip... and check it out... But will the cost of living have a great impact on whether you go or not?

but there's no better way to decide, then seeing it yourself.

I don't think I could move from a place that I could ride my bike year round, to a place that you get 3, maybe 4 months of riding in... I am currently looking to relocate myself somewhere south...

As someone suggested in this thread, take a trip up there for a few days and check the area out

I am willing to bet it is going to cost you alot more money to live in Cali then Texas.

No need to bet.. it's a proven fact.... the only reason we haven't moved there is cuz it cost so dang much....

Thanks for the replies- yeah its Ontario California... I would never move north- I hate the cold! The cost of living is an issue but I think the increase in pay will be enough to continue to live at or slightly above the level I do now. I like the idea of Glamis sand dunes being near by as well as Vegas being 3 hours away. I'm going to take a trip this weekend I think- Thanks again!

It sounds like you already made up your mind about it. I used to live in Riverside, CA which is right next to Ontario and I loved it. Yea the cost of living out there is a lot higher but think about it....you could ride all year long... who wouldn't like that?? Now I'm stuck in Michigan...where it snows....

Glamis is the sh$t!!! best place in the world for quads and sand rails. Bikes do ok but you will need a paddle tire. I think Vegas is about 4 hours from Ontario. Maybe 3 hours by bike though. Lots of CHP's on I-15 though. Again housing cost is going to shock the hell out of you. Hopefully you get a big ass raise.
