Depends what you want.

Cheap, new, affordable, efficient. Pick up one of the last 07 Saturn Ion's.

Guessing that's not what you are looking for however.

Yeah give us some guidelines... New? Used? Car? Truck? SUV? American? Import?

New or Slightly Used. Able to carry car seat.

I prefer sporty although wife won't like that. I love the BMW because as I call it, it's a sports car wrapped in a family car body. But it has to go and go quickly.

Have you thought about a 2 or 3 year old Pontiac Grand Prix? How about a 2 or 3 year old Nissan Altima? You're not going to get anything new AND sporty for 15K.

An early 2000's Maxima can be had for around that price as well.

I actually just bought a 1998 Chevrolet Camaro SS but that doesnt fit your description one bit

Maximas are great cars. I have one and I love it. I bought it brand new in 1997 and it has 112K miles on it and it has never given me any trouble. I had to replace 2 O2 sensors and a knock snesor. Other than that, its been tires, oil, brakes and a timing belt and thats it!!

exactly 4k for a headgasket is a rip off. they are easy enough to do on a BMW, or try an indie shop. shouldn't be more than a grand or so. Why not just keep the BMW. I would rather drive a 10 year old BMW than a new cheap car any day.

i would get another BMW they are built like tanks with engines that run forever. the headgasket was probably your fault! did you let it get low on coolant, overheat and warp the head? how bad is the leak? a slow coolant leak outside the engine or chocolate milkshake in the oil and burning white smoke??

They told me 3600 to replace head gasket. Plus anytime they pull the head it goes to machine shop if it's fine or slightly warped it'll be 300 or so that is my best case scenario.

There is no coolant in the oil but rather oil in the coolant. They flushed my coolant system over 10 times and it still had oil in it. I'm taking it back Thursday to have it flushed again to see if it's better/worse/same. Engine coolant light came on once I put water in, has never overheated since I've had it. Coolant light came on again this morning so I'm wondering if it's draining into oil now???????? I'm going to check it tonight. He did say it could have been vandalism because he's never seen so much oil in the coolant system. I just priced the head gasket because that was the other option. I will find out Thursday though.

I like the new IS350...
my parents are going to buy a car, probably within the next few weeks. I was telling them to get a used BMW. they test drove an 04 BMW 3 series, something like $20K, and they didn't like it cuz the "ride wasn't smooth enough". Their other car is an 05 camry. I want them to get something luxurious but if a beemer isn't smooth enough, wtf else? I guess I haven't been in many BMWs but I'd assumed that for that kind of cash it would be smoother than a camry I'm thinking IS300, lexus GS (ugly tho), volvo S40 (?)...
